This week has been amazingly awesome ! Well firstly my friend from the UK arrived on Tuesday to come and join my ventures for a while, so I now have a companion which is mint.Yesterday the whole group went for a day out as part of cultural immersion and getting to know more about Thai life.We left on our bikes late morning all following Darren to our first destination. The weather was roasting, hottest day so far on the island. We headed to Banrak food market, the smell s were awful in some places a bit closer to the fish section. Here at the market you can buy all kinds of spices unusual fruit, but what shocked me were the crabs which were still alive tied up, evidence of them being alive was the blink of the eye ( eeewww) you could also buy cat fish, tortoise which were still alive and squirrel which was dead , I did take a picture I won't publish as it is quite disturbing. We continued our journey from the market to the tourist temple " Big Buddha ". Here you had monk blessing people and bringing luck into people s lives. So of course the spiritual person that I am this was a must, we continued to walk up stairs to the huge big Buddha statue there u can walk around and ring the bells. Big Buddha is very commercial but its something you must see. Darren then took us to two real temple s which are barely seen by tourists. The silence and feeling of euphoria was immense, so many ancient carved drawings on the wall s , so much amazing detail to wat plalaem and wat chaweng temples .Full time Buddhism is most certainly something I would look at studying. We then continued our trip to Bo Phut
Market where Darren showed us how to eat like a Thai family. We all chose unusual dishes and shared each other s food, tasting the different variety s , you guys will get sick of me going on about the food , but seriously I feel like I haven't lived when it comes to food until I came here. We continued our journey to Hinlad falls which was awesome drive round winding roads up the mountains. At Hinlad falls we had the opportunity to elephant trek which I was really excited about , until I met nelly the elephant, he was so sweet but had a sad look in his eye, I didn't feel to ride on his back, bless nelly. We continued to the waterfalls which was surrounded with jungle and huge rocks We all went on brave rock climbing venture which took over an hour. Reminded me so much of the scene out of the beach when they first get to the island and dive down the waterfall, the higher we went the more waterfalls we found, unfortunately we left bags and iPads at the bottom of the rocks , so the beauty we saw from the top you only can imagine. By now it was 6pm, all of us drove to a small town Nathon to watch the sunset, we sat in a out door bar upstairs , balcony view drinking a Chang beer and taking in the breath and stages of the sun setting over the sea. Today has been immense god surly has created some wonderful people nature and things in the universe we live in today.
