So I made it to Koh Chang, a small Mini bus ride which held around 25 people from Ko Somet to the ferry point , the bus took around 4 hours , then a 30 minute cargo ferry to the island " Ko Chang". The Beauty about Ko Chang I went there and i didn't expect anything so that made the experience allot more exciting. I didn't book a room I just turned up , which ended up to be a pain as my friend jessi was also on the island she directed me closer to bang boa which was the wrong place to be. We all boarded an open taxi truck with seats facing each other , they place your luggage on top of the roof. The roads were narrow and curvy with jungle on each side. The Truck drove further in to the jungle, dangerous winding narrow country lanes , going up a cliff , further we went up we was over looking the sea on the right hand side and climbing rocks on the left. At this point i was excited to get a bike and explore the beauty of Koh Chang . 40 minutes later I got dropped off to Bang boa , i wasn't sure exactly where my friend was staying , I viewed some beach huts , i didn't have a good feeling about the place where i had been dropped off .The beach huts had a double bed , Thai toilets, showers and all sorts of entrances for tom d*** and Harry the snake to come and join me.The taxi driver had advised me all the " Falangs " ( foreigners ) stay at lonely beach which was a bit further up the country lane , well.. Seemed that way in the taxi, an hour into my walk with my pulley suitcase up and down hills and winding roads and hardly a car , person bike in sight , the sweat was dripping from me and the sun started to set so at this point I got worried and flagged the nearest van that past. Which was a delivery refrigerator man . He wound down his window with a huge welcoming smile , I got a lift to the commercial part of town " lonely beach" which still took 20 minutes in the van ,Oh boy I would of been walking all night . I viewed a few huts , all of them the same " bug friendly " , now I'm on a working budget and living the real traveller s life so I had to leave the diva at home and not just jump in to a 5 star hotel at the same time i am not sharing a bed with a incy wincy spider yuk ! I eventually gave up and went for a s***ty shed .. Which was identical to a shed you would keep your bike in with a mosquito net! I freshened up ,dumped my bags and met up with jesi and her USA teacher friends ,we all shared vodka buckets and watched and amazing raster band. Every one was really cool, I gelled with the group instantly , later we danced to raga old school drum and bass , the vibe was ace ,we continued the party on the beach until the sun set over the sea ,I ended up staying in a hut with one of the girls of the group Jen, so I made my lucky escape of the " shed " , the beach huts were still not the ritz but hey ho ! . The next day I moved my stuff to the beach huts and spent one night there , further on I moved again to where Jesi was staying at the magic garden , slightly Better .I still managed to give a cockroach a lift which i found crawling on my boob in bed !!! "s*** the bed" i ripped my clothes off like a super hero,my worst night mare has now happened .13 days in Ko Chang was a bit too much , it's a raster ,reggae, hippy old school, drum n bass party island and very chilled out , I had the most awesome time and spent it with an awesome group who are now my friends for life. In the 13 days apart from getting Absolutely trashed and struggling with the worst hangovers , I rented a bike and saw the whole island Managing to go around the island in 4 hours,... But people ! Stay safe ,those roads seriously are something else , they remind me of a ride at Alton towers theme park , The part when you go up and can't see how big the drop is on the other side , then you whizz round a corner straight down another hill ! Wear your helmets , it's so much fun but be alert don't drink and stay safe.I watched the most awesome sunsets at the beach hut , literally bought tears to my eyes , the euphoric music in the back ground the sea the red sky Chang beer ... Seriously something else, what else in that moment would I want....nothing ;). The Thais here are stupidly laid back , allot of them carry the raster culture. We call it " black mans time , here it's " Thai-time , so when you order food , I hope you have all day .. And next week too . Tattoos and bamboos sticks are a big thing to get done here , nearly everyone is cover ed in tattoos here in Ko Chang. The night life at Lonely beach is awesome , Tingtongs is the place to go if your into old school , and know how to rave like back in the day .The drum and bass was off the scale . They also put on the the most awesome boat party's, which took us to two deserted island s amazing music drinks, buffet , snorkelling ,was well worth the day out . we all had allot of fun . It has been an awesome vacation , good to know i still have it in me there s no holding this whitter down ,I'm now back in Bangkok on a huge DETOX .. What i disliked was the " budget huts , what i liked .. all of it . With a huge smile on my face as I hold the most amazing memories in my heart and friends around the world for life ❤
