Today is a special day as I have passed my TEFL teaching course, I am officially a international teacher. The TEFL course has been intense and challenging especially the theory side to the course as I'm a practical learner. The last week of the course we were placed in a local government school, The school resembled a prison camp or if you have watched Life of pi, the school at the beginning of the film was almost identical to where we have been working. The pupils are so willing to learn and very engaged, they are always smiling and there's a great unity between them all. My lessons consist of drama workshops focusing on " emotions " for the pupils to able to understand the definition of each emotion and being able to act out that emotion in groups. I connect with pupils as my spirit is so young and energetic so there s always good energy and fun happening in the classroom. It's a great feeling walking away knowing you've made a positive change in some way during a day of work in a thailand classroom.what I love Is how there's more than one gay in every class. Here in thailand " ladyboys" gays & lesbians are apart life, it's " normal " as Buddhism believe in not to judge another, and also the strong belief in past life's. Here in thailand children from a young age can be them self s with no pretence, no worry of what other people may think or judge them. In some school s they have transsexual toilets. This is what you call "real people" the real deal ! as I'm a big believer In staying true to who you are. The end of a cycle and what an amazing four weeks it has been on the island of Ko Samui, I'm undoubtedly emotional about having to leave, but the journey must continue. In the mean time I have a 5 day holiday to meditate explore and enjoy the beauty in my life I have been blessed with.
