Yes today is our broadway day. We woke up at 7 am in the morning just so that we would be at the ticket booth before opening so we could get discount tickets. That's a thing in America: they discount theater tickets on the day of performance. It's probably the same way in the Netherlands but I don't know that! So there we were, at 9am in time square. But it was worth the wait! We got quite cheap tickets for Phantom of the Opera in the front row! Netteh was a bit more sceptic about the places, but I was thrilled with them.
So what to do when your show starts at 2pm and you're ready with getting tickets at 10:30? Well of course! Explore what you haven't explored before. Honestly I thought we'd seen all of time square by now, but there were still some streets that were left unexplored (streets with two amazing looking cinemas too!). So we ended up at the cake boss café which got Netteh jumping on her feet as a baker of course. I thought the little sweet things would be more expensive, but they weren't and they were great! Netteh had a white chocolate mousse cake thing and I had a banana-chocolate mousse tower. I also had a cookie just because I love cookies so much.
After that and a make-up makeover in Sephora, it was show time! The Majestic theatre is the place where I spent a lot on Phantom merchandise, which was quite cool actually and I still don't regret it. The show itself was amazing. The singing voices were beautiful and the acting was great. My favourite of the night was the phantom himself.
What do people do after a broadway show? They eat! And we decided to eat at a great place called Jekyll and Hyde. It was like a haunted house restaurant with actors walking around and constant interaction with them. We had our first cocktails there which was amazing. We didn't get drunk, don't worry. We just enjoyed the place a lot and I think we sat there for 2.5 hours before finally having enough (and how!). I was so stuffed I could barely walk haha!
So we decided to go back to time square and sit on the famous red steps until the sun would set and it would become dark. But even when everything around you is dark and when there is night everywhere, time square is still lid and crowded. It's amazing to see and something we will never forget. We even stayed there eve when we were so tired.
