I have decided I am finally getting really good at starting over. First off to college at UVM, then transferring to Geneseo and now here in Groningen! It seems like freshman year all over again. We all look lost as we wander around trying to read maps, we travel in huge groups, and ask everyone we meet what's your name, where are you from and what are you studying. I guess it is a little different because instead of meeting someone from a town or state away people are from New Zealand and Italy. And Instead of meeting Kate, Tom and Emily I am trying to learn names that I have no idea how to say. I never thought Shannon would be so hard to say but the only people who say it with ease are from Ireland. But luckily, even though there are a ton of different languages spoken in our building, everyone knows english!
We had our first day of orientation, and after a lot of walking finally found where we were suppose to be. There is a picture of the room the welcoming ceremony was held. I felt like I was in a Harry Potter movie. We learned lots about the Netherlands and were all reminded we do actually have to take classes while we are here... bummer.

john spanczak Hi Shannon: Your trip sounds exciting. The city looks awesome, old and clean. Doing alot of biking in the snow? Glad you are taking and posting alot of photos. Let us know how the pizza tastes over there plus other local fare. This is a neat website. Have a safe and great weekend. UJ
