I dont really know where to start with this blog coz so much has happened since i last wrote! Im going to have to be quick tho coz we are literally in the middle of nowhere and the speed of the internet reflects this! We are going to La Paz (capital of bolivia) tonight tho, well 12 hour bus jouney so tomo technically- its the highest capital city in the world, 3660 metres above sea level.
I havent mentioned much about santiago because there isnt too much to report, aprt form the earthquake! The 24 hour bus journey to San Pedro was surprsiingly comfy, the seats i quote sam were ´the comfiest i´ve ever sat in!' not sure if thats entirely representative but they were very satisfactory- reclinable, blankets, snacks. We took our own bag of goodies, a book and sleeping pills and all was well!
San Pedro, a dusty town, literally in the middle of the driest desert in the world (i kid you not) was like another world. Driving into it and we could have been on mars, it was surreal. The houses were more like huts, and the temperature dropped to a very very cold minus 15C at night! with no heating and dodgy electricity, it was the first port of call for our five day long adventure into the desert and worlds largest salt flats.
Im going to leave it there because i want to make sure this definately sends! just wanted to update briefly. Leaving you with a taste with whats to come...me nearly not being lalowed to leave the chilean border (i lost a piece of paper that proved to bequite important!), driving through the desert and amazing salt lakes with volcanoes (150 active), geysers, and pink flamingoes! And sleeping the first night of our 3 day tour in the jeep at an altitude of 4800, in temperatures below -20C!!!!!!!! To top it off i discovered at this very very awkward time that im severly sucseptible to altitude sickness...not the best place when your in the middle of nowhere with only two ibuprofen to last you!
I got through it to tell the tale tho, and now have medicine as of two hours ago (were still at 3800 m and will be for nest two weeks).
Anyway the pics will paint a much better picture of the very memorable and amazing adventure.
Love you all, hope its stopped raining dad (i reckon -20c beats that tho!)love you loads, glad you had fun sabrina in france and keep writing and working on that tan!,well done on finishing tan...enjoy!!!! and we love you too pheebs, we love love love getting your little msgs. love to you all...keep the updates from you end coming.
