So, day 2 of my adventure...i´m back at the hostel making plans for the next stop Oaxaca.
Yesturday i went with ricky and dan to the main Zocalo , had a fairly chilled day walking around and checking out the Cathedral (1st and largest in latin america), the national place (where we made up the history of mexico by interpreting the 7 murals round the walls) , and the Templa del Mayo. The weather is fairly predictable which is always good -cloudy in the morning, warm and sunny in the afternoon and rain from about 4 for an hour or so. In the evenign we came back to the hostel, had some free dinner (wooo) and then went down to the bar to play some cards....Absolutely fecking mental barman who poured tequila down everyones throats then decided to pour half a bottle down his throat in one go....hes a bit scary. So after quite a few drinks (including a corona ahhhhhhhhhh!) we started chatting to all the other backpackers and made friends with a guy from birmingham and a girl from australia. The plan was to go out later but seen as the atmosphere was so good at the hostel and the drinks were so cheap and the fact that i´d slept about 7 hours in the last 2 days...we all stuck around and chilled.
Today we´ve been with our new friends Sam and Maddie to the main park (which is huuuuuuge), the castle which overlooks the city (although theres no way you can see the whole of it obviously!!!) and some weird museum of anthropology (not my idea).
We also got in a lil boat and rowed around a lake in the park...which was a disturbingly acidic green colour. Later on we went to the zoo and saw everything from orangatangs, llama( elvis i took pictures for you!) and monkeys fidling with themselves!! Twas all pretty kewl.
Anyway i´m off to dinner now and on to a mexican wrestling match this evening ( think Nacho Libre) with like 40 people from our hostel! So i´ll let you know how that goes.....Off to the massive temples outside of the city tomorrow (hopefully).
Stay tuned for more frolics! xxxxx
