Hello again!
I'm currently in Oaxaca, midway down the centre of mexico. Its a large colonial town with amazing red, yellow, orange, purple etc coloured buildings all constructed in the Spanish style with open plan courtyards in the middle - like our hostel Mezakalito. So theres a bit of factual information for you....woop.
We arrived Sunday night after a long bus journey from mexico city through mountains (and clouds!) covered in cacti - they looked like they were covered in giant pins! We stopped off in a cacti forest for an eco walk where we learned about each plant and what it was used for - medicines etc. After lunch we continued our journey to Oaxaca City.
Arriving in the evening we had a bit of a walk round and ended up in this awesome resturant then went for a drink in a bar recommended by lonely planet which was kewl.
Yesturday we had a general ponder around the city. Tis muchos beautiful. Luckily we arrived here in time for a festival where all the surrounding townspeople in Oaxaca state come and celebrate general tradtion etc. There are loads of little markets and street acts going on and a mezcal festival!! We paid about one pound fifty to get in and sampled all different types of creama mezcal and normal flavoured etc. Mezcal is the rawer version of tequila - Dan and Ricky coulnd´t handle it but i was loving it!
We came back to chill out for a couple of hours hoping to meet up with some people in the evening who have come here from our hostel in mexico city. Unfortunately me and ricky got a bit ill but recovered later and just chilled out with some people at the hostel and had a walk round. Luckily my Norwegien friends form mexico city hgave turned up too which is nice.
Anyway, off of a tour of a mezcal factory, indigenous village, and a waterfal today which should be kewl - i finally get to swim!
Hope you are all having fun at home....is it sunny yet?!
