Ok so Mexico is offlically trying to kill me... or at least the state of oaxaca is. The night before we left Oaxaca me and ricky got ill, the 8 hr+ journey to Zipolite.....still ill and suffering from lack of toilet stops.
Up we go into the biggest fecking set of mountains ive ever been to waiting for the mid way stop at San Jose Del Pacifico where we were due to do quad biking. We all assumed wed be doing it in a sandy area at the bottom of the mountains but no......MEXICANS ARE FECKING INSANE and put bloody quad bikes on the highest point of a fecking MOUNTAIN! So after i part died i drank some lemon tea and some coke and the sugar helped so i thought what the hell lets go....not realising at the point there wouldnt be an actual flat track....
So after five minutes of trying to get the hang of this huge quad bike with 5 gears and 3 brakes and god knows what else, off i go in my flip flops up onto the main road then onto a dirt track up and up and up this mountain......as always with machinary i dont get the hang of it, go over a big bump and head straight toward the SIDE OF THE FECKING MOUNTAIN!!!!! Yes were talking millions of ft drop here.....managed to figure out where the brake was about and inch from the edge. Anyway wanted to stop but had to keep going trying to stop myself dying and really not having any fun. Managed to make it back after being completly covered in cloud......
So that was fun
We get to the bottom of this monster in the not so safe hands of our crazy bus driver (who stops to eat at least once every 2 hours). Finally we see some blue sky and some sun as we get to Ziplote. All the concentrating on not dying has made me forget im ill and im as happy as larry to be at the beach alive!
Luckily we find a place aptly named A Nice Place On The Beach, where there are two double beds per room for 5 pounds each per room per night....lovely! We meet the crazy bar man who, again, is aptly named Crazy Horse Invincible (he legally changed his name so that when he went through the US they had to refer to him as Mr Invincible).
Had a dip in the crazily wavy and quite dangerous sea, then did the usual, eat, drink and party.
Then it begins....one german girl starts dying....ends up sleeping on the sand because making it from her room to the toilet is just too far....throws up about 10 times during the night and finds out she has an infection so lucky her gets given a bloody weeks supply of antibiotics.
Im all happy for a while....slapping on the sun lotion, being careful until i realise that it isnt until you get inside that you can see the red! So that was the day my skin died, next comes my body....
The next day i wake up ill again...to many cocktails with ice me thinks. Assuming it will pass i go back to sleep. Unsurprisingly it doesnt....its worse than before, cant eat opr drink anything, cant stand up or i fall over....so pretty much useless. Manage to conjure the strength to wait 3 hours on the street with the opthers for our crazy bus driver...and we finally get to Mazunte.
Think ahhhh lets find somewhere nice to stay this time, with a bathroom away from the beach, we head off to a place recomended in the lonely planet guide. half an hour later weve walked up a massive hill, down a dirt track and ended up on a deserted beach with crabs and dogs attacking simultaneuously. Funnily enough were lost. So we head back, with me nearly fainting from illness and it starts to get dark, we reach what we think is the place we are looking for and a crazy spanish man who randomly speaks german starts aggressively tells us they have no rooms then tries to lead us through what seems like a bloody forest. Me and the german girl Mellissa protest and he gets a bit lary so we go on, i hit some barbedc wire and cut my foot so im just that little bit happier....
Anyway he takes us to this other place and they dont have room so we go back to where we started down a pitch black dirt track and manage to find a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of an amazing room with an en suite and a fan woooooooooo.
So stay there are commence dying......i continued to die through the night and the whole of the next day, managing to make it out to the turtle museum for about half an hour then its back to my death bed.
I give up my fast and go eat some pasta in the night because it seems my body is trying to reject food even when theres no food in there...again Mexico is fecking crazy. Apart from the crippiling stomach pains i survive the night only find out that last night Dan had to go to hospital because he was puking up blood and everyone else is sick. Lovely. So im the only one who is marginally ok today which is why im on the internet filling all you lovely people in on the Country of Death.
Anyway we are in Puerto Escondido now but i cant tell you much about it because its too fecking hot to go outside. I might venture down to the beach tonight and then come back and cook some plain rice with the others becasue i dont trust anyone else with my health.
So looks like my 21st could be spent alone tomorrow woop woop....or back in a new death bed with the others. Either way ill keep you posted.
