Our final day in Port! At the suggestion of our new best friend Moni, we went to a wildlife habitat and had Breakfast with the Birds. It sounds a little silly, but it was super cool. It's basically a giant aviary filled with birds. Most are free to roam about and some are permanent fixtures in the 'dining' area - like some parrots and parakeets. No we didn't get pooed on but it was squawky and chirpy loud. The habitat was separated into three sections - birds, rainforest and Australian outdoors . An excellent park that allows guests to get up close to the Australian wildlife. At one point we were looking at crocodiles as an emu walked by followed by kangaroos chasing each other.
After being delighted by birds it was time for an adrenalin fix. Bungy jump here we come. Set back up against the hillside, this little oasis is the perfect spot to bungy in Cairns. Bar, cafe and tables to sit and watch the jumpers soar towards you as they skim the lagoon in front of you before springy back up into the clouds. As a jumper, to add to the thrill, you must climb the stairs in the tower to get to the jumping platform. The best view in Cairns. With your head in the clouds and views of the Great Barrier Reef and rainforest. Just before the jump a couple of swallowtail butterfly's float by. A good sign. 5,4,3,2,1 - GO!
