Snorkeling on The Great Barrier Reef. We chose Wavelength for our sea adventure, an Eco tourism company with a maximum of 30 passengers. The forecast for today is sunshine and wind up to 25 knots, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Thank goodness for the free motion sickness pills. The captain and a 3 person crew are all delightful and also have a great sense of humor. Each are marine biologists, and are a wealth of information. The day was spent along the Opal Reef at three different sites, each slightly different than the one before. It was jaw dropping amazing. The amount of fish and corals seemed endless. All of varying shapes, sizes and colors. An interesting creature are the giant clams. Some bigger than me, polka dotted with almost neon blue and green colors, that closed up quick when your shadow passes over them. We were able to swim and explore for about an hour at each site. After emerging from the water a head count and roll call was performed. Don't want to leave anyone behind - sadly, it has happened - not with this company though. On the way back we were once again delighted to see humpback whales breaching the waters. We received a disc of photos from the day, and should have some great pictures of the marine life.
