Heading out to Ocean Station "Papa" as Captain on the CCGS John P. Tully. Working the Papa Science Line in August 2011.
Second trip on Tully in a row as Captain. Joanne McNish was supposed to be on as Captain this trip but broke her leg on the West Coast Trail. Bad break too, not expected to return for 7 months. Ouch!
This is a busy trip though, Budget allocation came out, Appraisals of crew due, Refit coming up after this trip (well, 2 OOS (Out of Service), followed by 2/3 crew Self Refit). Also organizing the 4th Tom Shelby Memorial Golf Tourney. At Glacier Greens for the first time this year, 2 days after we're off from this trip on Sept 17, 2011. Also organizing the PFMC (Pacific Fleet Management Conference), aka the C/O's, Chief Engineers & OIC's conference with looming deadline. We are also doing a burial at sea for the wife of someone who worked on the old Weather Ship "Vancouver". He was buried at sea here in the late 70's. We have her ashes aboard and we'll spread her ashes at Station P.
And then, there's always ISM (International Safety Management) to keep one busy!
