Day 128
Today we went on a tour to Nimbin which is like Australia's version of Amsterdam! It's a little town full of hippies who basically smoke cannabis all the time and think it's a crime that it's illegal! Walking down the street there's a 98% chance that you'll be asked if you want to buy 'ganja'. Other than that it's an alright little place with some good views but to actually live there would be a no no...it's just way too chilled out and relaxed, and i think there's a reason for that! When we got there it was 12ish in the afternoon so we decided we'd grab something to eat so we just went into a cafe and got some food. After that we went and looked around some shops but there wasn't really much going on in them so we decided to go to the 'museum'. I think the people that made it we're high at the time because it's the weirdest museum i've ever been too, the stuff in there makes no sense, it's mainly random newspaper clippings stuck on the wall, or so it seem anyway.
After we left the museum we went to an Aboriginal Arts and Culture Centre which was where there was Aboriginal woodwork and paintings on display that people had made, then we went to the Hemp Palace which is self explanatory! We only went there for 5-10 minutes to kill some time before we had to be back at the bus. After we left Nimbin we drove through the Mount Warning National Park. Mount Warning is an inactive volcano which Captain Cook named for navigational purposes to warn future expeditions that when Mount Warning was in sight, there was a shallow reef nearby, so basically stay away from the reef or your b*****ed!
That night at the hostel there was 2 hours of all you can drink 'Sangria' for $5, Sangria being 4 litres of white goon, 4 litres of red goon, Champagne, Sherry, Lemonade, Passionfruit juice and Ginger....basically a lethal concoction. There were also firedancers that performed who were pretty cool. We drank and chilled with some people and then went and packed our bags slightly intoxicated for the early start ahead of us......
