Day 126
We were so annoyed this morning! If you read the last entry you would of heard how we planned to watch the sunrise from Cape Byron. Well we got up at 6 and waited for the taxi for hald an hour until we realised it wasn't coming. The hostel ordered it the night before and the reception was closed so we couldn't call them. So we went back to bed until 10 and then went into the town. Byron Bay is a really relaxed town with alot of hippies and surfers. It's definately the nicest so far! We went to the chippy and got chicken salt on our chips which we were told we had to try and it was pretty sexy. We then did the 40 minute walk to Cape Byron. To get there you walk along the beach which is beautiful. On the way up we saw a pod of dolphins!!!!!!!! Our first dolphins on our entire trip! We carried on up and stopped for a break because it was so hot and steep and then Stu saw a whale! We ran to a lookout and we could see about 3 different pods of whales. It was amazing!!! They weren't just swimming, they were breaching and doing tail slaps. Some of them were completely jumping out of the water. It was crazy to see a 45 ton animal fly out of the water. We carried on to the most Easternly point and watched the whales for about an hour and a half and then got an ice cream and watched the sun set.
