We got up pretty early to be picked up for our first day of the inca jungle trek and as per usual things ran on Peruvian time and thus it was 7.30 before we were picked up. In the can were 2 Americans Tyler & Bobby, a Canadian, Troy, and a Ozzie called Sass. We later picked up 2 Israelis called Orion and Ayalaand the team was complete bar the guide Jeider. It was nice as everyone was a similar age 22-24. Anyway so we drove for a while and then stopped to get some breakfast, and then started drivng up to 4800m where we would start our bike ride down the hill to 1800m. However, it was really cloudy up that high and raining. We eventually got out into the wet and put on our safety stuff and started the decent. It was pretty fun and would have been amazing of the weather wasn't so horrid and you pretty much couldn't see a thing. It was also very, very cold and I couldn't feel my hands or anything else really. After going for about and hour, there was just 3 of us left as everyone else had got back in the bus. Then the rain got even worse and I couldn't see a thing as it was so crazy powerful. So when I saw some shelter I stopped and waited for the bus which was an age. Chris had carried on and was so far ahead he missed the stop and went a few I'm further than needed but it was fine anyway. We were terribly wet and cold and eventually got to our lunch stop which was soup, rice, chips and stew, which turned out to be our staple diet for the next few days. We then checked into our hostel which was okay but quite basic and just hung out whist a few of the group ratted as we already did it in Arequipa. The group all got on really well which was nice. We went for a little walk around the town called Santa Maria I think which didn reag consist of much then had dinner, rice chips and meat and soup again. Played some cards and went to bed early real for another early start.
