D-day. Or should I say MP-Day. So woke up at 3.45 to start our accent to Machu Picchu. Had breakfast in the hostel, left most of our stuff and started walking.Ther was the option of getting a bus which I did consider as the bites and blisters were causing a lot of pain but I soldiered on. Well done me. We had to be at the bridge by 5am which we were and then we went in an started to climb the 2000 steep steps to the entrance of Mp that opened at 6am. It wasn't the nicest of walk but am totes glad I did it as it felt much better having walked up, almost like discovering it for yourself. We met our guide at the top and went into the park at 6am where he gave us a tour. It was really interesting and the views were amazing and luckily the weather that held off. We the did what we do best and took a shed load of pictures. After the tour Jeider (the guide) left us and we had a few hours to explore ourselves before our ticket for wuynupicchu was valid. We then started our walk up wuynupicchu which is the large mountain at the back of Machu Picchu city. It was very steep step and towards the top you had to climb through a cave and then up a ladder but it was so worth it, the views of Mp were amazing. And we all just sat on some rocks for ages and took in the view. After a couple of hours Chris and a couple others decided to carry on and do a longer trek to the moon cave but I decided to go down as had enough of walking. On the way down torrential rain started and it was terribly steep but quite fun walking down. When I got back to Machu Picchu city it stopped, so I took of my coat and as soon as I had put it in my bag it went mental again and rained rained rained. A lot. I navigated my way back to the entrance got my passport stamped and got a ticket for the bus down. I eventually got back to the hostel soaked to the bone and all my clothes got wet as they were in my rucksack. So I was super cold and t was still mental raining. Eventually Chris got back and we went for some food before heading to the train stain for our train back to ollantaytambo. The train was quite nice but by this pint it was dark and we were tired so most people napped. We then had a bit if a faff getting a bus back to cusco but eventually arrived at 11pmish got cleaned and changed and headed to the bat at wild rover to meet the others. We went there an then to mamma Africa's a club in the centre which was super fun and was a real nice way to round up out your with he group even though we had all been up for over 24hours. We also saw the Canadians again (turns out cusco is a small place) and didn't go to bed until 5am mentallll.
