Another early start to get into Beijing to go to The Summer Palace. The buses were crazy - we let 2 go because they were so full then decided we would have to get the next one regardless and ended up having to stand for the whole journey. At least it was a fast bus and only took an hour. Meet Rachel at the nearest tube station and we all got a taxi the extra couple of miles to the Summer Palace. It was a gorgeous day which only enhanced the grounds - they were absolutely beautiful and a real retreat away from the hussle and bustle of Beijing centre. We walked around for about 4 hours going in and out of the buildings and enjoying the views. We all decided we definately wanted to go back again and just hire out a boat to spend a few hours drifting around the lakes. Came back to Huairou fairly early to avoid the big queues at the bus station and had dinner at the hotel. Lesson planning this evening - I have to do a lesson on English schools and it was difficult trying to remember things!
