Just a quick one...we flew into Brisbane from Cairns on Tuesday, wandered around the city for a few days looking for places to work and at last I have a trial! hooray! Just wanted to tell the people who I've been stressing to...fingers crossed it goes alright!

...it went alright! woo...well I say it went alright, they put me on the bar upstairs at a function and I realised just how different aussie bars are. For a start there is pints, then schooners, middys, pots and sometimes halves...they have premix bottles/stubbies like jd and coke, jim beam and coke and their house rum everywhere is bundy or bundaberg...I managed to last the function but after that they've put me on bistro which means running food, clearing tables and more often than not jumping on the bar loads of times too because the pub is big on betting so there is a betting shop on one side and then fruit machines or 'pokies' in a building leading off the other side. Every pub or 'hotel' as they call them here has a pokies section which is just full of fruit machines and there always packed! It's really strange considering the 1 fruit machine in any english pub is usually gathering dust until someone gets drunk enough to feel lucky!

Anyway, still not done much in Brisbane as the paychecks aren't exactly rolling in and we're here to save. I got a place at a temping agency as well who have just called and asked if I want to work at the gabba which would be cool. It's where the aussie rules games are played but I dont have my hours for the hotel yet so cant but hopefully I will get the chance to again.

Anyway, best be off...still looking for somewhere to live so still living in a backpackers out of a bag...not good,
