Hi All,
After a really long 22 hour flight I've finally arrived in London. I took some sleeping tablets on the stretch from Bangkok to London so I arrived at 7am feeling reasonably refreshed from about 6 hours of sleep on the plane. Kathryn and John picked me up from the airport and drove me to back to their house in St Albans (north of London). Kathryn is looking great at 32 weeks! She has a huge bump which I keep feeling just to make sure it's real. It's so weird to see her pregnant. I keep accidentally knocking her belly as I'm not used to such an extension of her tummy.
Yesterday we decided to spend the day in Cambridge which is a pretty university town about an hours drive from St Albans. Apparently it was a really nice Summers day (22 and sunny) but I was still cold. The English girls were all wearing short skirts, singlets and thongs! I'm looking forward to some warmer weather on my Contiki tour of Europe. Whilst we were at Cambridge we decided to go punting down the river. These punts look a bit like gondolas except flatter and you navigate them with long sticks. We had a local take us down the river on a tour. You can hire your own punt but after seeing some Japanese tourist make complete idiots of themselves we decided against it. We also saw a man fall in the river fully clothed and loose his stick which was really funny. After punting the three of us had a pub lunch and drinks overlooking the river.
Today I've had a lazy morning, catching up on my emails and watching some British TV. Kathryn and John have two cats Lenny and Larry who are very cute. I often have to share my bed and room with them. This morning I've been spending alot of time playing with the cats. I tried taking some pictures of them but they're a bit camera shy.
This afternoon I went to an ultrasound with kathryn at St Albans hospital. The babies are doing well and developing at a good rate. I tried looking to see if I could work out if they were boys or girls but could barely make out arms and legs let alone anything else! The babies heads are positioned quite low which could indicate that they may come early. I just hope they wait till I come back from my tour in October!
I leave on my Contiki tour on Saturday which goes for 4 weeks around Europe. For the next few days in London I plan on meeting up with Hannah and Emma for drinks and perhaps do some sight seeing in London. Other then that it's nice to just relax and spend time with Kathryn and John.
It's been great hearing from people back home, so keep sending me emails. You can also leave me messages on the mesage board of this blog site or on facebook. Feel free to pass this site on to other people as I may not have their addresses.
Love Sarah
