Our new apartment
Up early to Skype Matt and Sue before breakfast. We walked to Amira's house to find our incredible room, our room with soaps, towels, a jug of water and glasses, and some books in Spanish. Amira was in the kitchen cutting up fresh flowers and eucalyptus leaves for our room, the place smelt like home (smelt like Australia). We had a cup of tea and coffee and a cookie and chatted to Amira. It was so good for our Spanish and she is trying to practice English. Such a great place and only $5 each per day. Amira is very generous and wrote down some herbs for us to get from the market for her to fix my foot. Ill give it a go. She started a cooking class with two guys so we decided to go have some more fun and headed to the market and town for supplies and tour information.
The market was so much fun again with many shops selling everything including all types of animal parts (pictured), but we were mainly hunting for rosemary and molle (turns out molle is the leaves from a pink peppercorn tree) and the final part, vics vapor rub!! Rosemary was easy to find in the market, but as for molle, we kept being told to ask the ladies on the street in hats for molle (we had no idea what it was, a herb, a fruit, an animal part, a weed.... We were betting on it being a weed).
Inside the market, outside, in and out again. We finally found it on a rug I front of a confused lady who charged us 20c, it took a while to get the right change but when we finally got the right change, it wasn't her blanket of weeds, she was watching it. The new lady knew exactly what was happening and we had our bunch of branches.
We bought lots of supplies for lunches and breakfast and we were very excited. We smashed lunch at the Peruvian buffet and finished it with a beer while studying Spanish. That makes for a great relaxing afternoon.
We booked our tour for Chavin, bought our last things and headed back home. Tea and cake with Amira and we talked about the remedy. We boiled the pot with rosemary, eucalyptus, molle and water to make a bath for my feet. After the water went cold, Amira heated up the vics and began massaging my foot. After 15minutes and lots of hot vics, I put on socks and shoes to keep it warm and headed to the trivia night.
At trivia night, we won a raffle which was a day trip for two people. Awesome. We join forces with Favi and enter the trivia competition (and came equal second). Favi is a local girl who is really nice, speak Spanglish and is great fun, que chèvere (how cool). We then walked home for our fist night at our apartment.
Que chèvere!
