Hello,
So when i finished my last blog i had just been to see the Taj Mahal. That night i met 2 guys, an American called Greg and an English lad called Chris. We spent all night chatting and discovered that Greg was going to Thailand and would be there around the same time as me and Stace, so we've arranged to meet up at the Full Moon Party. The next day i did some shopping in Agra and bought a scarf , as it was still cold, and the New Moon book for 4 quid. I love India! Although when i got back to the hostel I was told my train was cancelled until 30th Jan!!!!! Only in India would this happen. So the helpful guy at the hostel arranged a 'deluxe' bus for me to Jaipur on 12/01.
I met up with Chris again so he decided to come with me. He's been in India for about 2 months and is much better at haggling so he's good to have around. On my extra day in Agra we visited the Baby Taj which was cool and in the afternoon went to a roof top restaurant which had an amazing view of the Taj Mahal. On the way back we saw some horrible things including some kids swinging a puppy around by the tail and a lad kick boxing a cow! There are some parts of India i will not miss! The guy at the hostel told me about a hotel in Jaipur that was good and only cost 700Rps a night (just under a tenner) I suppose by Indian standards it is expensive. So I rang them and booked a room, I was pleased because the hassle of finding a hotel is tough with all the touts everywhere! So the next day I paid my bill at the Tourist Rest House which was 2000Rps for 4 nights, food and drink, WiFi and Internet. That's 27 quid!!!! We arrived in Jaipur 'the pink city' at about 1400 our 'deluxe' bus was certainly not but it got us here in one piece, although it was absolutely freezing, I'm sure nothing compared to the UK, but still cold. Lucky Jaipur is a few degrees warmer. I got an auto rickshaw to my hotel as Chris was staying somewhere cheaper. When i got into my room I was amazed. It's gorgeous. I immediately had a hot shower, almost so hot it burnt me. The simple things in life are the best. We take too much for granted back home. I then met up with Chris and we had a walk around to get a taste of our new city (similar to the rest!). I also went to Levi's and got a hoody/jacket as I'm fed up with that black fleece! It was only 20 quid so a bargain in my eyes! Then I came back and relaxed a little, watched some TV, read my book and had an early night. Such a comfy bed!
This brings me to the present day. As I have lost out on one day in Jaipur due to the Indian Railways I got up at 10am and started a days sightseeing. We went to the city palace, the home of the Rajasthan Royal family, and had a look at some more cultural things, which to be honest I'm getting bored of! I'm looking forward to that beach in Goa! I went back to the hotel for a little bit planning to write this blog however there was a 2 hour power cut (common in India) so i just chilled for a little bit. Tonight me and Chris have been to see a Bollywood film called 3 Idiots. I was quite funny but being at the pictures in India is very different, everyone whoops, cheers and claps constantly, however I didn't mind because obviously I didn't understand the language! Today I have also had my washing done by the hotel which is lovely because they were starting to smell! Tomorrow I get my 18 hour train to Mumbai its an overnight train so hopefully I'll get some sleep! I arrive in Mumbai at 8am Friday morning! I can't believe I've only got a week an a half left in India! So far it's been good apart from the obvious - Delhi! Hope your all good! Miss ya and Love ya. Adam xxx
