Hey Guys,
I arrived in Agra, the home of the Taj Mahal, yesterday but I'll start where i left off last time. After writing my blog I went back to the hotel and thought i would get an early night because I had to be up at 730am for my city tour. However I couldn't get to sleep til about 2 am so I was knackered when I woke up but excited to do the tour and also to meet some western people! Got to the place where my tour was leaving from and found there were 1 russian guy, called Simon, living in the US with his german friend, and girl from Canada called Imogen and a german girl living in France called Julie! It was nice to have some conversation with them as it was the first since I arrived. Throughout the day we visted various temples and Gandi's death and cremmation place, we also visited the Qutub Minar which is something from millions of years agoor something like that! It was a good but very long day. The fog was also really bad, I could barely see 50 metres ahead, so the pictures arent that great. I had my first Indian meal, well actually it wasn't cos it was veg. chowmain!!! ha ha but it was made by Indians!! After the long day I went to the hotel and went to bed this time finding it easier to fall asleep which I was pleased about because I had to get up at 5am for my train to Agra!!
So in the morning I got up and got a rickshaw to the train station where I was getting my train, it was ment to leave at 615am but was delayed until 8am due to the fog, so I sat around in the waiting room and went outside for a smoke and then got told off by the army man saying i wasnt allowed to smoke where i was, so he fined me 200Rps (2 pounds). Im sure he wasnt allowed to do this but it was 715am and i wasnt in the mood for arguing and he also had a gun so I settled with him and gave him 100Rps, which still only about 1pound! So eventually we got on the train in my carriage there was an Australian family, an American family and a Candian family. (No I'm not gonna make a joke!!!). To cut a long story short we evetually made it to Agra at 630pm, which was 10 hours later than planned! Yes the journey was only ment to take 2 hours and infact it took 12!!!!! Madness! It seemed like it was goin from bad to worse!! But strangely though it was quite nice as it got people talking which I liked. So after leaving the train I got a taxi to a place Lonely Planet recommended. Its called Tourist Rest House, its like travellers heaven!! Its got a court yard in the middle of it with fairy lights and candles and lots of tables. Theres loads of westerns here, so its great to catch up with other peoples adventures. Ive already met 3 people from the UK who are my age and a nice french women. The staff are really friendly, which so far, i found is rare! They also have wifi so my iPhone is loving it!!! The only down side is theres no hot water in my room so i have to go to the commual showers and fill up my bucket! ha ha! But I can't complain because I'm only paying 4 pounds a night!!! Much better than rip off delhi, so glad to leave that dump! Things are looking up.Im also looking forward to going south, which i do next Friday, as its 30 degrees there insted of the 6 - 10 degrees here, although i can't moan as ive jus read on facebook that there was no running water in our apartment this morning, gutted for you guys!! So then to the present day. This morning i had a well desrved lye in anwoke up about 1030, I had a wash in my bucket and then decided to go for a walk around before visiting the Taj. Although the rickshaw and cycle rickshaw touts don't understand the word walk. "Where you goin, I take you 50 Rupees!" "No thank you I'm just walking." " I take you,i take you" I really wanted to say F*** off, sorry mum, but I didnt and after about thirty minutesof continued pestering I got a cycle rickshaw to the taj mahal! Very strange.I got to the Taj though and everyone is right it is amazing, got to be seen to be believed. Fog isnt as bad today so photos are slightly better!!! I'm gonna go and get some lunch so thats all for now folks. Miss you all, keep your emails, FB msgs and blog msgs coming, they make me happy!!! Love ya xxx
