The days are starting to form a pattern. We get up at 5:30 in the morning, and walk up to the main complex at 6 to have toast or eggs. Afterwards we go straight in to the vehicle, and head out on to the plains. This morning we saw a male lion, who was maybe eight years old. Every morning our driver Eugen, brings out some hot chocolate and tea, and we get out of the car to stretch our legs. He will also bring biscuits, crackers, that sort of thing.
Animals which are abundant in the Serengeti are the Thompsons' Gazelles, baboons, and the antelope. You see these every time you go out, and last night there were a few gazelles sleeping by the entrance to the lodge. Things which you also see are the zebra, giraffes, and the buffalo. Today we saw a young giraffe, which was only a few weeks old with its mother. It was very small. For a giraffe. We are out on safari for four or so hours, before coming back and having breakfast. There is then a couple of hours down-time before lunch, and some more after wards, until the afternoon safari. Yesterday afternoon we saw a female leopard sleeping in a tree. When it came down, we tried to follow until it got lost in the long grass. We went away, and looked at some other things before coming back at dusk to see it again. That was really cool, and because leopards are nocturnal it was reasonably active as well.
We didn't yesterday, but we normally have a thing called sundowners, which is similar what we do in the morning, except me and Sam have orange juice, and we eat peanuts and that. It is normally really cool, because we find an elevated spot on the top of a hill or something to stop, and we watch the sun go down.
It is hard to believe that we are already half way through our time in Tanzania, we have had so much fun and it has gone so quickly.

Dad So well described Georgia. So great that you are having fun.
B Loved your photos of the hippos, cheetahs, elephants & giraffes. The ones of the cheetah sitting bolt upright was a delight - also of the solo giraffe standing tall like a sentry - giraffes alway make me giggle - beautiful & absurd! A wonderful holiday - one you'll remember forever! Luv
Kate taylor Sounds like you guys are having an amazing trip. Does Eugen's hot chocolate make up for getting up at 5.30? Just as well there is time for some lazing around in the middle of the day. Have you had any special treats for dinner? Missing you . Mumxxx
