*NOTE* the past couple blogs were written offline and I've just uploaded them from Japan. The internet is much better here and so i will start uploading my photos tomorrow and hopefully whack some on here! Thanks for reading everyone :)
Alex and Alexa left the hostel yesterday and 3 Chinese girls replaced them last night. Turns out Nina, the German girl in my dorm, studied and speaks Chinese and so we all agreed to go out together for the day. First thing I had to head to a post office to ship some stuff home because although it wasn't much, it was taking up much needed space in my backpack. I sent back a couple of purses and a pair of converse and chose to send them by boat for 160 RMB. It was the cheapest option and could take up to 2 months!
We then headed to Renmin Square and ended up in Shanghai Madame Tussaud's! I didn't recognise half of the waxworks though because a lot of them were Asian celebrities, but the girls who I was with tried to explain as much as possible who they all were.
After that, the other 4 headed to Yu Yuan gardens and as I'd already been there I headed to Shanghai Art Museum. I'm not that much of an art gallery type of person so didn't last that long in there but it was interesting all the same. Observation - a lot of people wear seem to wear berets in art galleries...
I then headed back to the hostel and managed to skype with mum and dad! It was a Sunday and nearly 4pm (8am) UK time and knew mum would be up around that time so sent an email telling her to get online! Was SO nice to speak/see them both (even though connection was a bit dodgy my end...). I had to cut it short though as I'd arranged to go swimming with Nina that late afternoon. We caught 2 trains and a bus to get to Shanghai stadium where they attempted to test me with questions to check whether or not I could swim, but once they realised we couldn't understand each other they just made me swim a length to check and then let me continue!
We headed back soon after and had ended up at a Korean restaurant for tea and then I headed back to the hostel to pack for my flight to Tokyo in the morning!
