So we headed to Rainbow beach, which i'm pretty sure only sees tourists as its easy to get to fraser island from, because its crap to put it bluntly! We stayed in Dingos and we had some British boys in our room. Turned out one of them played football with my brother growing up and was coached by my dad! They kept us up till 4 in the morning throwing up one by one, like any good bunch of english lads travelling would. They were going to fraiser island in the morning don't know how they did it! It has to be said, although Steve wasn't as bad a drunk as the others he did fall out of his bunk on the way to the toliet to throw up, haha so funny!

So we woke up though i don't think i ever actually went to sleep at 6:00 to go feed the Dolphins. We fed them a fish, they were pretty cool we could actually get into the water with them but we weren't aloud to touch them as they can catch things from humans. We spent the rest of the day planning our trip down to Brisbane and then we got grouped into our teams for Fraiser. We were with two English guys james and olly and Jacob the german! We watched a saftey video which was comical, don't think that was the intention but seriously...... if we were to see a Dingo aparently crossing our arms over our front and backing away slowly would help! We had a few drinks and went and packed ready for the next three days.
Fraser Island!!!!!!!!!!!! 01-03/12/11
So looking back i completley understand why fraiser island is a must for anyone travelling oz not only is it a beautiful deserted island with sand dunes and crystal clear lakes, the whole experience of camping and cooking with your group is a right laugh, especially when you have english banter with a crazy German to entertain you for three days, not to mention one crazy english driver and a guide with comical hand signals, but more of that later. We even had to dig holes to go for a dump, Brian you would be proud! haha its not a real camping experience without dumping in a hole, so funny seeing people walking of with their shovels 'i know what you're doing'!
We had to load up the car with camping gear and suplies for the journey, we were pretty proud of our packing, had to take a picture soo sad! We were then briefed on the usual saftey stuff from merv who liked repeating himself alot, 'i'm not telling you how to live your life i just want you all to be safe and have a good time', 'take care of my babies and they'll take care of you' (refering to his 4by4's). So we got the ferry to the Island the weather wasn't that great but soon cleared up. We saw our first Dingo licking up some sick on the beach yummy! The boys drove the most Gem gave it a try first said it was alright! We parked up and headed for a long walk to lake wabby were we had to walk over these sand dunes to get there, felt like for a moment we had arrived in the sahara, it was so nice, there were alot of fish swimming round us though! We headed back which was when i decided to drive! It was all going well until Mick our guide got out and did his hand signal which was 1st gear full titties (sure you can work it out) basically we had to clear this sand hill now named vickys hill! I cleared it fine no problemo it was just slowing it down in the camp site on the other side that was the problem! Nearly ran afew people over and scared the life out of my group in the car but no one died and i was the talk of the camp that night brill! We cooked steak, potato salad and salad for dinner pretty good and then drank into the night!
We woke up the next morning to pack our car whilst being watched in the long grass by a Dingo! We drove around for 10hrs, we couldn't do the champagne pools as the tide was to high so we climbed this massive sand dune then went to the ship wreck and on to Eli creek which some people swam in. It was way to cold at this point as everyone kept getting stuck in the sand all day so we had to stop whilst Mick got them out. That night we had asian stirfry for dinner. We'd made friends with two of the other cars which were manly english, Irish, german and canadian. I forgot to mention the highlight of the trip.... we had two cars full of Mexicans who were loud and drunk for the full three days. So on the first night when they were singing so loud we all decided to try to sing over them, thinking we could outsing them. Of course wonderwall was the song choice, only it backfired as they new it and joined it, funny though, they were complety nuts!! That night while we were all asleep the Dingos invaded our campsite and stole some food luckily ours was locked away in the car!
The next day we headed to lake Makenzie which can only be described as paradise and one of the guides found a little turtle. I managed to pluck up the courage to drive again wasn't too bad this time but i let Jacob finish the drive as he loved driving lol, he kept saying on the first day 'this is amazing'. My last highlight was mick calling Jacob Princess in the gass station back on Rainbow beach!
That night we all went out for dinner! Loved Fraser definitly recomend it to anyone doing oz!!! We had a good bunch of people which made it, plus the crazy mexicans!
