MON: caught bus to hue. got into hue at 12:30, found a hotel called the pheonix. for rest of day walked around the citadel. not much there, nice photos tho. got a cyclo back to hotel, was a bit more expensive than tuk tuk but got a couple of photos taken by the driver so didnt mind. in evening went to a quiet restaurant. went back early as bus picking me up at 6am. fell asleep at 9:30.
TUES: up early to go on tour of the DMZ (demilitarized zone), was quite interesting. tour guide was really good altho he did talk about women, sex and prostitutes a bit too much to me. met 2 people, a boston guy and a toronto girl. met up with them in the night. stayed out with the canadian till 2.
WED: hired a push bike today, went to the citadel, surrounding walls, nothing to see. then went to Thien Mu pagoda, Tu Duc tomb. then got completely lost. the map i had was not at all accurate and there were roads on the map that didnt exist. got to one village after riding along a river bank and the people came outside to see me to i guess either to see a westerner or to wonder what the hell i was doing in their village. rode some downhill, narrow singletrack and never found Khai Dinh. Paid 20k baht for a shower :(. in evening caught bus to Hanoi. aweful food at food stop. had bed where i could stretch out, but still a little uncomfortable.
