Fri 4th: georgetown: went to snake temple. had photo with 4 snakes n me. 3 pythons and a viper. walked around georgetown. not much to see in all honesty. in night went out with some of the australian army guys. also met a couple of other people through them. they bought me drinks all night. i only bought a round for me and jeremy (canadian guy). woke up in the morning with a phone ringing in my pocket. had no idea hw it got there. turns out never met the guy last night or even went to the same bars as him. met him in the morning to give his phone back.

sat 5th: didnt do much today. went to the big temple for the sunset over the city but was shut. went out in night but didnt meet anyone.

sun 6th:: travelled from penang to cameron highlands (ch). only 3 on minibus so loads of room. walked along main street (only 1 st) and played football with these boys for 2 hours. met a few people in night and played poker with them at hostel.

mon 7th: went for a hike up brinchang (moss forest mountain) with people i met last night -7 of us. excellent trek through trees, roots, mud, vines. didnt have lift back so managed to hitch a ride in back of landrover. in night had couple of drinks at bar, mainly talking to swedes, icelandics, english and shay -couch surfer.

tues: adventure tour. all day. got picked up in an army truck. jungle 4 x 4 driving. hike to see rufflesia (largest flower in the world). had a go at shooting a blow pipe. i got closest to bullseye. 10m. went to BOH tea plantation, pretty boring but the guide let me drive the defender - i want one!. went to butterfly place, held a rhinocerous beetle, scorpion, milipede. most of the butterflies were dead. strawberry place was s***. overall a really good tour. didint get back till 7.

wed 9th - left ch at 11. got minibus all the way to taman negara (tn). but took like 7 hrs, so got there late. met a guy called anatole on bus. found hostel with him. luckily bumped into eli so stayed in the same place as him and others. just chilled out in night. tere is no alcohol here -so should save some money!!

thurs 10th: had a nice breakfast-tuna sannies. we, 9 of us decided to go to the canopy today. walk was good but very humid so sweated alot. canopy was pretty rubbish but some thought it was good. 3 of us then went to cave with lots of bats. about 1hr and a bit walk each way. cave was amazing, didf proper caving. got back and chilled out at hostel and booked jungle trek. jeremy showed up in night from ch.

fri 11th- got food this morning for hike. caught oat at 11 but was another hr sorting out what we had in bags with park officials -5000ringgit if u leave rubbish in national park. was then another 1hr boat ride up to our starting point. we had a 4hr hike thru jungle. saw leaches, monitor lizard. elephant and tiger footprints. never sweated so much in my life!!! the cave we are sleeping in was like a cathedral cave, huge. there were 12 people, 2 grioups and a guide for each. we had a campfire and had noodles and beans. loads of bats there but not above us. sleeping bag had no zip so sleptt on it and used my liner. talked in my sleep quite loudly.

Sat 12th june. Woke feeling like I had a pretty good sleep but my hips and thighs are killing where ive been sleeping on my side against the rocks. Had some noodles and bake beans for breakfast and we headed out. Stopped at a bat cave and for food on the river. Bees were in their masses, more annoying than the leaches. We got to the hide, also covered in bees and everyone decided they had had enough andwould go back today. So walked to jetty. Hike was 4hr altogether. Waited 3 hrs for a boat. Travelled back in the dark. Got the last bed at llana hostel. Got food but not at restaurant. Sorted backpack out and watched the argi game on the big screen on the beach.

Sunday 13th june. Everybody decided to leave today. With them all heading for tiomen island. I decided to go to perhentian is. Got to train station and train was delayed by 2hrs and was full. Could stand for 12 hrs but decided to change plans and head for cherating instead. Which meant catching the earlier train south to mentakab.

Mon 14th. Had a lie in. didnt do much today. Internet, laundry. Beach for an hr then it rained. Read, afternoon nap. Watched the world cup. Decided to leave tomoro for perhentian islands as seen everything.

Tues 15th. Travelled from cherating to perhentian islands, took around 7hrs. Got like a vip public bus and saw a dead croc-road kill. Got a ride off this unlicenced taxi guy for 5 ringgit. Bus was 4 ringgit so got a good deal. Speedboat over to island was insane, like riding a bucking bronco the whole 45min journey. Must have hit 70mph. Had to transfer to small boat in harbour and then jump into the sea to reach the shore-lucky I was wearing flipflops. Staying in a 24bed dorm for 30 ringgit.made a deal, stay an extra night and I pay 30ringgit each nite (not 35). there are no roads, no atms and no public conveniant store to buy beer, only monkey juice. The water is so so clear. Met other roomies and played drinking games. Got wasted on monkey juice. The guys im hanging with are john, dimitri, alex, katja, chelsea, lynn, anna, kirstin, christine, meike, jo. Went in sea in night to see phospherous :)

wed 16th. Didnt get up till 11:30. had a couple of hours on beach and played volleyball. It then rained for rest of night. Still managed to have a couple of beers though.

Thurs 17th. Got up, woke everyone up and went and organised the snorkelling trip. Went to 6 places. Saw a huge fish, a shark and a turtle. Decided today not to go diving as it didnt seem any different from phi phi. We all went out in night after a long effort. Met meike again. Waited for christine and baywatch then went home at 3:45. things were just conflicting all night so nothing happened.

Fri 18th. Had a chilled out afternoon on beach. In night walked over to other side and had food then on way back saw these huge spiders and spiderwebs. Had 2 bottles of monkey juice between 3 of us. Got drunk but no one else did. Quiet night as everyone just sat and watched the footy. Didnt hook up with meike, very annoying.

Sat 19th: got to sleep at 4:30. everyone is leaving today. Got up at 7 to see everyone off. Went back to bed. Had day on beach on my own. Then went and said buy to meike who left at 4. volunteered for a beach clean up for an hr. got ready and met fanny. Feeling a bit dehydrated. Drunk aload of water and it passed. Watched footy and had food (1hr wait). Started watching other game but got to tired and went home at 11:30. fanny was at a party anyway.

Sun 20th: didnt want to do much today as it was either going to be sandy, salty or sweaty. So stayed at mohsin. Spent 45mins with fanny on beach and also saw izzy. So spoke to him for a while. Boat ride back was fast again. Got 4hr wait in kuala besut with 11ringgit. Managed to get 2 meals and a bottle of water for 8ringgit. Overnight bus was a nightmare. Almost crashed 3 times-serious. It rained and our roof was leaking and just couldnt sleep.

Mon 21st: caught taxi with this german guy who was next to me on the bus. Found bedz eventually. Went straight to sleep. In afternoon had walk around and went to lo fat plaza mall to look for a laptop. In night just chilled in hostel watching world cup and chatting to people. Turns out theres a guy who live in no. 40 gwydr crescent exactly the same year I was there.

Tues 22nd: bought a netbook in the morning. In the afternoon went to klts and lake gardens. Both not that impressive, TS unusual. Took ages to get to them as no direct routes due to the amount of main roads and the buildings. Have this feeling when walking around that the ground is sinking. In night went out with the perhentian crew to guys house and then to reggae bar. Stayed the night at this guys house. Got there at 4:45.

Wed 23rd june. Got lift off the guy with john. Got to hostel at 12. went straight out to merdaka square and that area. Really nice. Central market was lovely. In night went to pub on own to see england game, crew went back to guys house but to much gayness for my liking. Bumped into sam and jas. Others finally came. Went back to phone parents, then back out but everyone was too tired and not doing much, so decided to go back to bed around 3. met a guy in the hostel who stayed at gwydr crescent, no. 41 during the same time as me!!

thurs 24th. Perhentian crew left this morning. Queued with jason and sam at petronas to get tickets. Walked back to hostel. Spent like 4hrs on pc trying to sort out photos. Went up petronas and then up kl tower. 38Ringgit! Came back and slept. Then woke up and decided to go out with sarah and rosie. Saw sam and jas out. Me and girls stayed out till 7:30am. Ended up staying at this irish guys hostel. Had an hr kip and went back to hostel.

Fri 25th june. Got back to hostel around 9am. Slept till 11. went to sort sd card out. Went and took some photos of places. In night finished uploading photos to pc. Then went to chinatown with sam and jason. Spent a lot! Watched footy in hostel. Spoke to mam for an hr.
