Today we had a long drive to get from Thurso to Isle of Skye and it was definitely the best part of the whole trip. The mountains and the nature was just breathtaking. There were sheeps and lambs everywhere and we also have the opportunity to get really close to a Highland Cow, that are just so cool!
We stopped and Smoo Cave near Durness to explore a cave and a waterfall. The vikings had been here a long time ago we read at least.
Afterwards we had this amazing drive from Durness to Ullapool were we awed at admired Scotland and its nature. I think our love for Scotland grew to the strongest during these hours.
In Ullapool we catched some groceries for the evening and coffee for our driver Rikard. It was a needed stop and the town was located at a the sea with mountain surrounding it.
The last part of the journey went ok even though we almost drove the whole way to Inverness but we found our way to the Skye Bridge. Isle of Skye is a place of its own. Our hostel was located in a small village called Portnalong after passing by Carbost where Tallisker destillery was located. We thought we had went wrong since the road got narrower and narrower and after a while it was a single road with passing places. But we found Skyewalker hostel at last where our friend Matthijs welcomed us. He had gone there with his motorbike and it was nice to see him again.
This evening was quiet in our favourite hostel so far with pasta for dinner and guitar and singing in the dome. Isle of Skye - we really love you! <3
