The final day of packing started early and frantic, we still had to get lots of stuff in to storage and rubbish to be cleared from the house. 4 runs to storage and 3 runs to the dump later and the house was 95% clear. It had been a stressful day of clearance and rather boring for the children. On my final return from storage, Rox had got the motorhome loaded and the kids strapped into their seats. A quick swap and Rox parked the car in the garage. A location which had not seen a motorised vehicle since the motorcycles had been sold, and never had a car been parked in it, and we could see why when we squeezed the Skoda into the space the builders had left and closed the door behind it.
A quick check of the house for important papers and we closed the door as we had to go. I set off down the motorway and Rox started sending SMS messages to various people and speaking to our very kind friends in Basingstoke that would finished of the remaining elements within the house so that prospective buyers could look around the house and see what they could be buying.
We were down to the wire and the drive down the M3 in a 3.5 tonne vehicle was fast, lots of long range planning for actions, but within 50 minutes we had reached the International Ferry Port. This was helped by the fact that the port is at the end of the motorway and we did not have to fight our way through the city traffic to get to the ferry. The Pride of Bilbao rose up in the distance as we quickly approached and soon we checked in with 15 minutes to spare before the close. We could finally relax and get on the boat. Rebecca had fallen asleep and we had to get some gear together before we could locate where our cabin was. We got to the cabin and found we had forgotten a number of things such as books for the children and some changes of clothes, but we are on board and the journey had begun.
