Well the Mazatlan Project is over for this year. And what a Project it was!At the first meeting with the Rotary Club of Mazatlan, a profound Mazatlan Rotarian said that "Rotary is Friendship".Over the last week, we have learned how true that is, and how it sums up the Mazatlan project. The Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie and Edson have developed friendships:- with suppliers and contributors of vehicles and equipment for the project,- between their clubs and individual members,- with the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Mazatlan,- with the City of Mazatlan,- with the people of the agencies, groups and associations who have received contributions from Rotary,- with the people of Mazatlan, and- with countless numbers of supporters between Alberta and Mazatlan. Our eloquent friend did in fact sum up the project in much more concise manner than I am able. This project is a credit to the friendships of Rotary. We have to extend our appreciation to the Leaders of the Project.Allan for his hard work in Canada, getting everything ready.Harm for his leadership of the road crew.We are all overwhelmed by the hard work, hospitality and leadership of Pepesan.Pepesan is always there, looking after every detail with a smile and a hug.None of us can adequately express our admiration and appreciation. And of course, Lorena for all her hard work despite battling bronchitis.Laura from the Rotary Office was always there, always working for Rotary and always smiling.Thank you to the Rotary Clubs of Mazatlan for their hospitality, friendship and support of the project. How can we thank you enough?Thank you to the people of Mazatlan for their hospitality and support.Thank you to the recipients of the Rotary contributions for their enthusiasm, hospitality and their dedication to their community. The Rotary contributions will have a positive impact on the quality of life of thousands of people in education, social services, hospital, ambulance and fire services.Just a quick update:In the photo log you will find pictures of the fire truck which was provided to the Bomberos Vetranos on Thursday - 3 days ago.The underbody, wheel wells, bumper, tow hooks, checkerplate etc. have all been repainted. The unit has been steam cleaned and the minor pump leaks have all been repaired. The generator has been put into service and they can now use a set of portable lights that they have. This work will continue and the Bomberos will keep us updated. They are looking forward to receipt of equipment once it clears customs.
