After a year of planning, the Rotary Club of Edson is joining with the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie and getting ready to leave for Mazatlan with school buses and a fire truck. The Edson Rotarian drivers are Victor Maris, Bob Patterson, Rob Pelkey and Murray Heinrich.
The trucks are ready to go and are loaded for the trip. The fire truck has three full jerry cans of fuel. It doesnt have a very large fuel tank- lots of stops to add more. The bus has blankets, desks, supplies for an orphange along with firefighter protective clothing for the Fire Department.
We have been in contact with our former exchange student Paulina Perez Gavilan from Mazatlan. We hope to be able to meet up with her on March 8, since she will have to skip school and fly from Montery to visit us.
We will be leaving Edson on Sunday March 2 to meet up with the Grande Prairie group at Acheson. Then it will be on to Lethbridge.
Pat Heinrich and Shiela Patterson will be flying down on March 8, to meet up with the group.
Thanks to all of our contributors to the project: Encana, Grande Yellowhead Regional School Division, Yellowhead County, Diesel Shop, Co-operators, Renay Woelfing, Acklands Grainger, Three Penguins Signs, Artic Supply and Yellowhead Registries.
So, we will update this site everyday. Dont forget to leave a message on the Message Board- the crew will love it, especially after a long day on the road.
