We started the morning with breakfast. Victor and Rob were up and running by about 630 to get their exercise. Rob says Victors legs are way too long. Ambulance 1 got all fixed up and back in the fold. Ambulance 2 went to the ambulance hospital and was found to be in critical condition. The decision was made to leave the ambulance boys behind to get repaired- rear engine seal and then they will try to catch up to the group.
Meanwhile Bob and Harm had to replace the rear axle seal on Harms Mini Bus. This was all occuring in the slight Lethbridge wind.
Murray did an interview with Steve from the Fox Radio. Thank you Steve for your interest in the project. Steve- I hope you are reading this- try to get in contact with Renay Woefling about the blankets and stuffed animals that she has sent along with us for the orpanage- they are fantastic.
Then it was off the US border. Stopped at the crossing and got all of our stuff together and jammed more fuel into the fire truck. Then off to the lineup- then the infra red scanning of the vehicles and then to the impound area. OOPS our Bond was somehow not working as it should. We all had to stay in the principals office until everything was worked out and our vehicles were searched for Bobs whisky. Thankfully they never found it. After two hours, we were released with no further adieu.
Then we were off to head south. Because of the late hour, we stopped in Shelby for lunch on the go. Lots of hot dogs, corn dogs and hamburgers. Not a healthy lunch. The trip to Great Falls was enjoyed despite the wind and we all enjoyed the Big Sky Country..
Then we entered the Big Belt Mountains and the rocks and cliffs along the historic Missouri River. Lots of hills- tough on the fire truck to keep up despite Robs shifting.
Stopped in Helena- downtown despite our best efforts and did finally find gas for the all trucks- along with Starbucks. Then back on to the highway for Dillon in the dark. Hit windy and steep roads through the mountains along with the snowstorm at the Continental Divide. The wind continued-car in the ditch on the way.
Arrrived in Dillon Montana at about 9:00. Too late for supper for the Edson boys who had chicken noodle soup from the lobby lady. The Grande Prairie guys headed out for steaks.
Tomorrow is Beaver Utah, departing at 7:00. Final note: The ambulance 2 should be repaired by 2:00 tomorrow. Stay tuned to see what they will be doing.
Regrets from Murray and Rob regarding the Rotary Meeting in Edson- we hope that somebody takes the chair, unfortunately Murray neglected to ask somebody to do so.
Adios
