Early start rushing for wine tour caught the tram that crawls along the street then becomes a speedy train underground.. only the San Fran muni!
Across the golden gate in thick fog can barely see it outside as we listen to the guide. He sounds like that mad scientist dude in Indipendance day.. Apparently over here the Red Wine has to have at least 75% of a grape variety to be able to have it labled on the bottle. Otherwise it has to just say Red Wine.
First stop V. Sattui, great Dehli and had first tasting.. Pretty good, though nothing special, $5 for 5 tastes, drank not spat, so like a large glass at 11am! Beautiful lunch here, real Tuscan stylings but not the atmos.. Still good start!
More wine purchased, Predator 50 year old vine from Rutherfords, best yet, saving this one for a picnic in Golden Gate Park.
We all taste and taste and everyone becomes more and more lose, it's a lot of fun and the guide keeps the journey filled with facts and stories.
We catch the ferry back across the bay and pull into the pier before facing the rush hour home. Yikes! Busy, but London is worse! After dropping off our days purchases we leg it back to the beat museum where we catch a prize wining poetry do a reading.. this is as hip and as beat as it gets! She's great, funny, insightful, sad, compelling and rocks us with sone blues harmonica to boot! Everyone digs it big time. We get a signed book and a guy declares my Tshirt deserves it's own poem!
We head to another Italian, Collesio, with a huge range of veggie options, more wine and then home rounding of a pretty epic day. I'm pretty much stoked with our experiences so far.. a San Fran poetry reading.. I only drempt of such things before.
