We be chillin
Today we slept in, seems like the first time since being away, not that I'm complaining. Little hung over and with some washing to do before the Big Sir trip we've decided to take it easy today. Funny, today we really feel like San Franciscans, doing the laundry in the communal wash room, ambling around the Castro with the hipsters. Getting coffee and chillin in our local park. There's so many young funky people around and there's a bit of a festival atmosphere. Actually there's quite an age range but somehow they all appear to be a little alternative and funky. Barely any teenagers, very few children! Just San Frans coolest, drum players, sound systems, hoola-hoops are definitely in! Lotta brown bags. Hmm, people keep slipping down the hill we're on, it's grassy and muddy.. how do they not see that? Is it because these hot country city folk don't know what mud is!? Ah Sunday. Later on we have tickets to Zanzine.. It's a circus act amongst a restaurant with a 5 course meal! So deffo looking forward to watching some trapeze with ma cheese.. an wine!
The show turns out to be one of the best shows I've ever seen! An amazing eastern European cast of actors and acrobats tell the story of a meistro in love through up close acts of magic, slap stick, acrobatics, song and audience participation. Complete with singing and dancing waiters and waitresses serving a five course meal the whole event is atmospheric, funny and original. It all takes place in a small jewel box like circus tent kitted out with dining tables, wooden floors a stage and band. Apparently it was built in 1910! The European circus artists are full of talent and really get the place going! Pretty much the best show I've been to I think, high quality acts, great characters, top food and drink all in an intimate atmosphere! All that's left is for our taxi driver to take us home, turns out he's a real muso and switches us on to some cool indy radio. As a finally I remember that a star has gone super nova in the pin wheel galaxy. My iPhone app happily points it out in the sky and we watch from our balcony over looking the city a shimmering speck of light that is an exploding star that died some 20 odd million years ago. What a night!
