Got up early and went for breakfast.
Caught the 8.50 bus to Mahon for a full day out in a bustling city. Oops this is where is all went down hill.
Got to Mahon at 9.30 and just thought that we were obviously early for the shops to be open and they would all open up around 10ish as it was a Sunday, how wrong we were. Nothing, we mean NOTHING opens on a Sunday unless you include the little fruit market, all of 3 stalls.
Took a pleasant walk down the 1 in 5 hill to the harbour, which smelt worse that Grimsby docks, with an ocean liner chucking out black fumes which must've destoryed the ozone layer on it's own.
Walked up and down the 1 in 5 hill several times just incase it got busier, but it didn't. Went into the Cathederal to light candles for our husbands to find that they were infact plastic imitation candles and you just pressed a button, so we came out in disgust as that defeats the personal object.
Went to find a tobacconist so that Jax could buy some cigs to be told they don't open on a Sunday, is this a religious thing we don't know about !!!. It must've been Sunday cos Jackie used the "Jesus Christ" words a few times and I said "Oh God" cos we needed to find some. Four hours later found a cigarette slot machine. Thanks be to God !!!!
Dinner was a success and then we found a park with swings, so normality resumed. We didn't make the kids wait too long to have a go.
You may wonder why we spent so long in a quiet town, that's because there are only 4 buses a day and we had missed the previous one so had to wait 2 hours before the next one.
Returned to Santa Tomas and decided to give the pool a shot, nice and refreshing to be sat by the pool reading our books.
Went for our evening meal and then a nice steady walk along to beach with a beautiful sunset, Jackie then thought that a bit of moon bathing was in order. We then climbed up the spiral escape staircase to take more photos. Pleased to announce that the plough was right outside our apartment.
Ok maybe it's not as bad here as we originally thought - it just takes us a long time to understand what relaxing actually is.
