aaaargh just spent half an hour writing a massive blog & then there was a powercut at this internet place so i lost it all ! so annoying ! ill try & start again...saturday was the indian festival of 'holy' to celebrate the beginning of spring. This basically involved throwing handfulls of powder paint at each other until everyone is completely covered head to toe in neon colours ! was so much fun, especially as cars just drive past you on the street & chuck handfulls out the window to see how many people they can hit ! there was also loads of music & dancing in the street which was wicked. we found this bar right on the beach called boomerang which is actually the best bar in the world ! the cocktails are about 80p & you can get 2 pints of fosters for under a pound ! the guy who owns it loves all the same music as me so he lets me plug my ipod into the sound system & whenever a good song comes on he shouts 'hey DJ!' at me and gives me thumbs up, its so funny. they also keep giving us free shots & they always free pour the measures very generously ! the guy always gives us a lift back to the house at the end of the night aswell because he doesnt want us to walk !sunday we planned to visit this waterfall, however little research on our part meant that we didnt realise to get to the actual waterfall you had to rent a jeep and go on a safari first. a little annoying but as it was less that $4 for the whole day we thought why not ! so when someone tells you that you are going on a 'safari' in india, what they actually mean is you are driven around for about 20 minutes over paths so bumpy that you keep banging you head on the roof of the jeep & drive through streams so deep that the water nearly comes up to the windows ! we did see an elephant thought, not a wild one unfortunately, it was in an enclosure, & saw some really cute monkeys carrying their babies ! when we finally got to the waterfall it was really stunning, but quite hard to appreciate because it was full of tourists. it was really nice though to swim because the water was so warm & when we were sitting on the rocks this monkey came up to us to say hello !the rest of the week consisted mainly of going to work in the mornings, going to the beach in the afternoons, lesson planning for the next day & then bar in the evenings. really having an amazing time here, sometimes its quite hard on the lessons constantly thinking of things to do, you could spent 2 hours planning a lesson & they would get through it in about 20 minutes ! the other day we ended up playing catch with a hackey sack for about an hour ! they were enjoying it so much though that i couldnt tell them to stop ! it is getting easier though & the kids are so adorable i cant imagine leaving them ! also been to a hindi lesson where i learnt some phrases like 'sit down' & 'are you finished?' which really helps. went to a henna workshop last night & drew this massive pattern on my hand & arm which looks really good !wednesday it was marissas birthday so we went to the beauty salon across the road to get manicures ! it cost less than $2 and lasted about 45 minutes as they massage & exfoliate all your arms & hands aswell, they even clicked all my fingers which felt horrible ! marissa got a facial and a head massage there too which lasted about an hour - they but mashed up banana on her face & started poking her skin with a hot metal rod ! looked so funny ! we then threw her a suprise party back at the house complete with cake, balloons, biscuits, crisps & a punch consisting mostly of feni, the local spirit which is made from cashews & costs about 70p a litre ! apparently it makes you go blind if you have to much of it though & it didnt taste that amazing so i think we will steer clear of it from now on !

spent today at a hotel swimming pool with a swim up bar that we read about in lonely planet, was so nice & suprisingly quiet compared to the rest of colva ! only cost about 50p for the day & they do full goan breakfasts so thinking of going back there tomorow morning ! heard about the snow in england ! seems crazy to think it is cold enough somewhere right now to snow ! better post this quickly before we get another power cut ! hope everyone is ok ! byeeeee
