Hello everyone, this is Ngaire doing the first entry. This was written while we were in Glasgow at the Hostel, but we couldnt get it sent there. The only internet connection there was in a bar, so of course Hamish wasnt allowed in!! And when I tried to do it the first time it got lost because I didnt have a photo for the location. FIngers crossed......
Our flights over were good but long. Ngaire managed to have a reasonable amount of sleep, Hamish managed to have an OK amount of sleep (but not enough), and Steina didnt have a very good sleep at all.
In Sydney Airport, Hamish bought a wee plastic kangaroo toy that does backflips when you wind it up. When we went through customs in Bangkok, this wee toy kept the customs officials amused for ages. They spotted it when Hamish had to empty his pockets into the plastic tray and go through the scanner. Next thing it was "Come here little boy" and they were indicating the toy and asking to wind it up. When they saw it do a flip there was geat laughter, and next thing more officials were being called over to watch! It kept them amused for some time - hope there werent too many of our plane load still behind us waiting!
Dubai airport has grown HUGE since I went there last. We flew out through gate 207, and it wasnt the highest number! Still the same lack of seats to sit on while you are waiting, though. I think this might be so that you keep walking and shopping - there are certainly lots of shops. We bought ourselves some chocolate, and Hamish got the PSP he has been saving for at a good price. Hamish says SCORE! We got to experience the heat in Dubai (30 degrees at at about 7.30 am) for ourselves because when we went through the gate we were loaded onto buses and driven to our plane way down the end of the airport. We passed about a dozen Emirates planes all lined up neatly, waiting for their passengers - it was an impressive sight, but when I tried to take a photo an official stopped me. Steina used her brains though, and we photographed them by taking a photo of the onboard camera view!
Into Glasgow with no problems, through customs nice and speedily, then onto a bus for central Glasgow. A short walk to the Hostel (remember that Christina??) and we checked in. We went off for a walk to stretch the legs and get some fresh air, and decided on Pizza Hutt for tea before an early night. Hamish crashed at Pizza Hutt and fell asleep at the table before we finished our tea!
Woke up late Sunday morning, and found we had missed breakfast here in the hostel because our watch was wrong by an hour. Still, we had a delicious brekkie in a restaurant over the road.
Next thing was a double decker bus trip round Glasgow, which was very interesting. We discovered a really fun thing, one of those unexpected things that turn out to be a highlight of the trip............... but I'm not going to tell you about it, because Hamish wants to next time. A clue from Hamish - the initials are SVS.
ps: Hamish says while you were having Sunday, we were having Saturday for the second time. Yeah - a 3 day weekend!

Christina did you not have to punch hamish and make his nose bleed to get through customs like we did last time?
