Hi everyone, this is blog edition has a mix of reporters reporting! Ngaire first:
Monday morning: I left Steina and Hamish finishing their packing, and headed off after breakfast to get our rental car. All sorted, and back to the hostel with it. Seems I've got Glasgow carparks sussed now, because I DIDNT get the car stuck in the carpark like I did last trip! Mind you, I did choose a different carpark this time, just in case! We headed off from the hostel with our stuff and packed the car, then did a quick visit to the Boots pharmacy in the St Enoch's mall to get medicine for sneezes and coughs. Just across from the pharmacy was a Baskin Robins icecream shop - 31 different flavours to choose from so Hamish branched out and chose.........chocolate! A chocolate sundae with hot chocolate fudge sauce. Mmmmm mmmm. Steina followed suit, but I was good and only had a single Strawberry cone.
Hamish: Next stop, Edinburgh Zoo. Great day! I had a rainbow lorakeet land on my head, and the keeper told me he had hatched on the 19th of February. My birthday! I asked the keeper if the bird had a name, and when he said no I said could he be called Hamish since we had the same birthday and he'd landed on my head. The keeper said the bird would be Hamish from now on!! We went back to say goodbye to Hamish before we left the zoo. We got to feed the lorakeets nectar in little pottles. They loved it and drank it all up really quickly, then used their tongues to try and clean up the last drops.
We saw lots of animals at the zoo - painted hunting dogs that are really dangerous, chimps, squirrel monkeys that were little and cute, king penguins, gentoo penguins and rock hopper penguins, one squirrel, baboons, hog deer, bush dogs, sea eagles, wallabies, and some tiny little animals that are members of the wallaby family but smaller than a family cat. Cant remember what they were called though. Then we got some tea - hard to find because mum got a bit lost on the motorway and the roundabouts - before coming to Tom's house. Sadly, this was about the time that I started to get really sick with a bad cold! Starting to get better though, but Steina has caught it too. Mum says she's not planning on having it!
Next bulletin will be all about going to Linlithgow Castle and the Scottish Seabird Centre, and also our day in Edinburgh, and our night at the Tattoo. But we have to stop now and go down to Mrs Meikle's (Tom's neighbour) house to get all this on the blog. So, bye for now.
