As we were arriving at Melourne late, we decided to kip at the airport. There was no luck in trying to find a lounge to sleep in so we settled for an empty corridor where we set up camp like proper tramps!! At 5.30am the next morn, Robyn got up for a shower and left Steph snoozing away in her sleeping bag! On return the corridor was not so empty and full of passers by and there was Steph in the middle of it all on the floor dead to the world!! Got to Hobart later that morning, and were greeted by Stephs aussie rellies who drove us back to their house. Robyns wishes for pets were granted when we were welcomed in by two cats and a hermit crab! That day we did Mt Wellington and had a wander and a glass of vino at Salamanca. Also had our first taste in a long while of home cooked food, carpet under our feet and a nice bed! After a lamb roast we settled down with some more vino and Kevin&Perry go large before an early night. Next day we went out sailing on their yacht, we really aren't naturals, but had a good day all the same and definately enjoyed the fish and chips!! Later on we had a BBQ followed by a drink at their local! On the wednesday, we took a trip to Port Arthur - stopping off at a Tasmanian devil park on the way - the vicious beasts looked quite cute! Later that night we were crew on the 'blue chip' for a twilight race- we are sure they regret their decision to invite us along (we were hidious) nearly going over board more than once! Warmed the cockles with a lasagne before heading on a night out with Mike and discovering Isobar - we think its Hobarts version of Xcel!! The next day was rellies day for Steph as we headed up to Launceston to meet some of the extended family for lunch. On Friday we took a trip to Richmond with the boys where had a look round a gaol (jail for all you english peeps!) Saw a horrible eel in the river which cropped up later in the week. After Richmond we set off to 7 mile beach where we did a spot of swimming and the boys engaged in a fish egg fight - vile. Another film night was in order before bed. Saturday was a day for the market, we had a wander and made some purchases and some drinks from the bottle shop in preparation for the night ahead. We later had a bbq and cake for an early birthday celebration for Dave before the drinking began. After sampling "jeigermeister" and some straight Jonnie Walker whisky, we felt more than ready for a night on the town!! while wandering the streets of Hobart we taught the tassies some Barmy Army anthems about Shane Warne which they loved! we checked out many a bar and club before a visit to the "bakehouse" was in order for a meat pie. At this point Steph thought it absolutely vital to climb on to the sculpture in the middle of a water feature for a photo, this all went to plan until trying to get down - ah, all turned out ok though. When we arrived back at the house it became clear how drunk we had become, Dave decided it would be easier to slither to his room rather than walk which prompted Mike in to song, serenading us with a rendition of "David is an eel" very funny at the time but you definitely had to be there. the Next morning we reluctantly crawled out of bed and made our way to the airport for our flight back to Melbourne. speak then xxx
