Hey Guys!! Well, I made it back. Okay well i only have like 20 mins left on this computer so I'm not going to be able to fit everything that I want to in, but I'll try. Okay well, Since I last posted anything online, I've done A LOT of stuff! It started off with getting picked up by these two dudes (Randolf and Rudolf - i wont say their real names) This was the first time i' ve ever met them in my life. We drove in one car all the way to Anchorage. Then, from anchorage we unloaded all our stuff into 3, yes 3 motor homes!!! Eacyh one was 32 feet long and we had one each! So, I was asked to drive one of these monstors all the way from anchorage to nearly fairbanks!!! First of all, I had to drive on the other side of the road sitting in the left of the motorhome. Also - those things are massive and very wide to go around corners. Some points we were driving through snow storms and we went through a white out as well which was interesting. Anways, I had this motorhome all to myself. To sleep in, shower in, eat in - whatever! It even had a furnace which kept the inside warm even when I woke up to ice covering the entire machine. haha. Anways the goal was - to head to the Alaska Range for this competition called "The Arctic Man". It's where skiiers are towed behind snow machines at amazing speeds and they race! I got to go snowboarding and have a go on a snow machine!! i'll post some photos as soon as I can, but there were mountains everywhere. Anyways, I had no ride home - and to make matters more interesting - I had to be back in homer by 6 am to catch a boat to head to Peterson bay where the field station is to start volunteering! So, i grabbed my pack, put my snow gear on, and starting hitchhiking. rnI made a sign (i'll post photos) which said on one side "GlenAlen, Anchorage, Homer" and on the other side it said "your car looks warm" As i was standing in snow for hours. Anyways it took me 8 different rides to get back to Anchorage!!! Thats a long way. The people who picked me up were generally very nice and hip haha so that was interesting. Anyways I arrived in Anchorage about 8 30 pm. I decided that I wouldn't have been able to make it back to homer as that time of the night there is basically no traffic. So I went to the airport and asked when the last flight to homer was. The last flight was at 8 45, and there was one seat left!!! So I was so lucky to get it. It was a very cheap flight for an hour and the view was FANTASTIC!!! rnSo I arrived in homer in a little bush plane - very good landing by the way! and caught a cab back to my cabin. then the next day on the boat. rnrnOkay my volunteering offically started. My first week was so amazing!!! each day a new group of kids came - and I made lots of really close bonds to some of them - so it was sad to see some of them leave... I'll write more about this on my next post in a fwe days time if i can. One of the kids that came - well he invited me to go four wheel driving!! and another person invited me to go bear viewing/hunting. rnIt was cr azy - i had lots of fun with the kids and t hey all said over and over again how much they loved my accent haha. Anyways I got to go now i'm tired as but i'll write soon. I can't remember the number of my cabin off by heart right now.. but if you want it - feel free to phone my parents at my home 412 8572 and get it from them. Thanks heaps for your comments and emails!! I'll reply to them as soon as possible!! C YA!!!
