Rise and shine the ocean was loud outside our hut, I thought oh no it's collapsed when we were asleep and we are near the sea (although if that had have happened we would be dead), we packed and were in reception at five past nine. We then found out that there was a free taxi to the pier at nine, this would have been very handy as we were going to a destination on the West side of the island called Sairee Beach (we were currently in the south side called Chalok Baan Kao Bay) but we missed it, the receptionist called a taxi and he would be ten minutes, he got there and wanted three hundred Baht to take us to our hotel, I said 'on your bike' and had a little protest, however I then realised it was the only way to get there so paid the good man his money, hoped in the back of his pick up truck and we were on our way, it was about twenty minutes until we were there. We arrived at Asia Diving Resort which was our hotel at around nine forty and were going to leave our bags here whilst we explored but we checked in and our room was ready so we walked passed the swimming pool and up to our room, it was big, airy, clean, new and had a big balcony. We liked it and immediately unpacked, it was still quite cloudy but nothing like the day before. We were here for two night and discussed staying for another two nights as it was so nice and had a pool, we had a think while we walked around the resort which was lined with café's, bars and restaurants on every street, we walked to the beach which was lively and again lined with the above. We explored every street and they were all the same but very different (if that makes sense) all the prices were the same, the menu's similar but atmospheres very different. We went back to the hoel got our swimming gear on and went to the pool for an hour again lapping up the rays in the five-ten minutes they were available between clouds. We were then hungry and headed to the on site bar, it was nice and we had two Phad Thai (fried noodles with meat/veg/seafood of your choice), we then returned to the pool occasionally jumping in to cool down, we stayed around he pool until about five when we went back for a hot shower (quite a novelty) something I had been looking forward to. Got undressed and went in the shower room - there was only one tap and it wasn't warm, so again I had a cold shower (maybe getting used to them though as I was straight under no messing around pointing the bit I wanted to wash under the water for as little time as possible). We headed back into town the sun had started to dip in the sky and town was livening up a bit the bars were full of rowdy folk, mostly Australian, all having a good time. We picked a little restaurant on the beach we had a beer and ordered some food, it came, we ate, and were having a beer, it started to get dark and the sunset was pretty it was quite a romantic light really but obviously it continued to get dark and no lights were on in the restaurant, I was struggling to see Sarah now on the other side of the table but we still sat there and thought maybe it was supposed to be nice, but not even a light behind the bar bit where you paid made me a little suspicious, it was only twenty past seven in the evening and the Thai lady came over with the bill saying 'we close now' it was all very odd I couldn't even see the money I was paying her with. We walked down the beach front hand in hand looking at all the other bars all lit up and discussed going for a drink, we really wanted to see a fire show which started at nine thirty and didn't know what to do for two hours (every day we were on a budget and had gone over it for today so didn't want to go in a bar for two hours) so we went back to the hotel, on the way back I saw a man selling crepes and we decided to have one with nutella, I said 'please can I have a crepe with nutella' he didn't look at me and continued to chop up bananas on his little metal street vendor, I was about to say it again when he grabbed a pancake thing and spread it out in a very violent way then continued one handed while he poured oil onto the hot plate, he did everything at double speed and then when it was cooked slammed it down on a plate, smothered it in nutella then poured condensed milk on it, threw the tin of milk down really hard the grabbed some sesame nuts sprinkled them on, launched that back at the trolley and got a big meat cleaver and started chopping it up, Sarah and I looked at each other with a smile, he still hadn't spoke to us at this point, I paid him and he finally said 'thank you' and we were on our way. While we where waiting for mental crepe maker I saw two proper Thai lady boys giving out leaflets for a cabaret show, Sarah didn't believe they had wedding tackle, I thought that was the whole point, I was very weary of any Thai person that had big peacock feathers sticking out their crack. Anyway we ate up and went back to the hotel where we watched the adventures of superman and fell asleep really early at around nine o'clock.
