My mate Gemma's birthday today. 26 bloody hell time is contagious, we are all getting old. Ten years since we left school, where does it go, anyways I don't care because I have had a good bat so far, all fours and sixes nicking the odd run off a slip shot ever now and then, but a classy bat indeed. Must ring her today. We woke up from an undisturbed sleep at about 9:00 nearly twelve hours sleep but I still felt knackard. We had a boat to catch again today to Koh Samui, pick up was at 11:00 and boat at 11:40, we packed and checked out, 3000 Baht deposit returned and went to the shop for the hot dogs we were loving at the moment. We waited for the taxi to the port and as we waited there was Hannah and the other South African buer that we chatted to in the tree house, 'not in Cambodia then?' I asked, they looked unamused 'nope' was the response. Our taxi came and ten of us crammed in the back, two other chatty English people and two Canadians and some other not chatty human beings. No one had any accommodation booked and we chatted about where to stay, we got to the port and waited for the boat to dock and got on, what a fine vessel it was quite a sphinx. The boat set off... no it didn't the engines were chucking water all over the place and we weren't moving, they forgot to take off one of the ropes from the peer so effectively we were trying to tow Koh Phangan to Koh Samui, this seemed unlikely so they unhooked it and we carried on. Only a forty minute journey so arrived about 12:30, we jumped in a taxi (a mini bus with a roof this time, not a pick up), the Canadian girls from our accommodation were in the van, we chatted and they introduced themselves and Kate and Nicole presumably because that's what there names were. We got out the van with them in the centre and haver sacked up we head for the beach, they where all maple syrup and what's this all aboot. We went in a fancyish looking hotel bar and asked how much a room was, I had to speak on the phone to some lady who could speak English she confirmed that it was 1400 Baht per night, this was over budget. The two Canadian girls were only travelling for three weeks and decided to treat themselves so went to find a room, me and our kid walked up the beach and darted in and out of hotels seeking a bargain. We came away from the beach and onto the road as this is where all the receptions were for the hotels, we went down a little dirt track (we are not sure why because it looked manky and unused, but we walked about thirty yards and saw a sign for Rizzant Bungalow's, it was a little bar and shop which looked quaint and very local. We asked how much a room was and it was 700 Baht which was reasonable they confirmed they had a swimming pool, we still checked one more and they were 1800 Baht per night. We went back to Rizzant Bungalows, the owners little lad showed us a room and it was nice and clean and big, we walked past the swimming pool on the way and this seemed very nice set in a pretty garden with flowers and although surrounded by accommodation wasn't overlooked. We booked for one night to get a feel for the place, we settled then got changed. We embarked on an adventure down the beach which was a pretty beach but lined with restaurants and bars, sunloungers, stalls and people selling... well everything really. This beach was called Big Buddah beach, we liked and decided to walk down to the closest end of the bay, when we got to the end we walked back down the beach to the other end. We didn't talk much walking down the beach purely because there was so much to take in we had proper Turkey necks trying to absorb it all. We walked past a bar called Ark Bar, and looked in as Hannah and Ed had recommended it to us. We had just gone passed it and heard, 'you guys' twas Kate (one of the Canadian birds). We chatted for a moment and decided to join them for a drink, we only had a coke and again parted company, they told us all about Canada and we told them about England. It was the longest beach I have ever been on and we walked for probably an hour before reaching the end. When we got to the end we walked back up the road to Rizzant, the road was long and lined with shops and bars, each trying to out do the other price wise. Sarah saw a couple of dresses she liked but nothing, and I mean nothing has prices on it in Thailand, I asked how much a dress was he said '500 Baht', taping on his calculator as if to be working out what price he could do it for (ten quid), I said no thanks, he shouted after us 'how much will you give me', it becomes tiring trying to haggle everything all the time. We walked back, jumped in the pool as it was hot and we were sweaty beasts. We then got our dinner robes on and Sarah applied her make up in the looking glass in the room, she looked bang tidy. We went out, back to the beach and walked back up the short end of our beach to find a restaurant with cheap meals. They were all for rich folk and we were having none of it. We settled in one that wasn't cheap by our standards but still reasonable, the whole of dinner including two beers was only 8 quid, with a starter. We again saw the Canadians whilst we were eating and they said they would be about for a drink after dinner and I was well up for a session but Sarah wanted to head back, anyway we didn't see them again and we explored the beach and town in the dark. It was very busy but very entertaining to see everything in the night time, we got back to the room at around 22:00 and I signed on to the internet to check on Nottingham Forest's result over Watford, 1-0 up after two minutes, get in! Ended up winning 1-0 as well so all hail Tudgay, also went on Skype but had to decline calls and just type as Sarah was sparko next to me snoring like a train (not really). I turned the computer off at around 12:30 and went straight to sleep.

Sarah The start of all confusion - every hotel after this one was called Rizante and then when we went to Blue Andaman on Koh Lanta - every hotel was either Rizante or Blue Andaman! It was weird when that little boy showed us to our room - he walked very slowly and didnt speak! We saw a blown up puffa fish on that beach. Even after checking into the lovely hotel we continued to look for a cheaper one! Why?! Another lovely romantic beach front meal xxx
