Saturday
Our last day in the UK ( until next time) and the cloud and rain cleared to a half way reasonable day.
After we dropped the car off in York, we spent the day just wandering, taking in the sights. First stop was a real coffee in an Italian bar, sadly no brioche just a cinnamon doughnut, which was quite nice.
We strolled around the old town for a while and took the train back to Harrogate, arriving here around 2:00.
Then started the quest for food. After checking out a couple of likely pubs, only to be told that; (a) the evening meal starts at 7:00; and (b) they don't do evening meals, just lunches we found a barn of a pub and had a steak, chips and peas. A long way from our earlier gastronomic delights.
Tomorrow, it's leave the hotel at 7:00am if the taxi turns up, and take a flight to Milano via Heathrow.
Despite the gripes it's been a great week and a half. We both really enjoyed Scotland and our drive through the Yorkshire Dales yesterday was certainly a highlight.
So next instalment, Desenzano. Ciao
