Sunday
Well another day on the road. We arrived in Callander without too much trouble. It's a great spot, small village and the B&B is up on the hill overlooking the town.
Monday
Went up to Loch Katrine and around the hills then back to a small pub for dinner. All in all a great day. Today, Tuesday we took a train up to Mallaig from Crianlarich. Well and truly into the highlands. The scenery was spectacular and the weather Scotish. Malliag is a small fishing town and the end of the line in more ways than one. Fortunately the weather cleared and we could see the Isle of Skye. Well we could see an island and Jean is sure that's what it was. Now it's back on the train to Crianlarich, hopefully the car will be intact in the station car park so we can drive home.
After almost a week, we have figured out the GPS and driving is almost a pleasure.
Wednesday and this is our last full day in Callander and what a great day if has been. We went out to Loch Katrine and took the steam boat up to the end of the Loch, about 1 hour. Then we hired some "bikes" and rode back, over some moderate hills following the edge of the Loch. All up, with photo stops, wardrobe stops, catching up with the locals and their life history, ( man, can they talk!!!) and a bite to eat, it took us about 3 hours to make it back.
The sun came out about 1/2 way through the ride and it was great to feel the warmth. The photo with this blog is from our room just to show the blue sky.
Tonight we are going to a little pub in the middle of nowhere (check out the photo on fb - Brig O Turk) then it's down to England. Scotland has been a real eye opener, friendly people and nooo too meny crooods.
So next entry, Harrogate.
