India and Nepal 2022
It's been quite a week.
During an an ultrasound check at Parami Hospital in Yangon, the radiologist (the best in Myanmar) found something in my abdomen which shouldn't be there. A MRI scan and consultation with the excellent medical director later, had me referred to Bangkok for urgent surgery.
VSO has been great in coordinating arrangements including insurance cover and my friends and family in Yangon and back home surround me with love and support.
Its strange how people's comments can affect your equilibrium and you sometimes pick up their own anxieties and concerns. For me, I have to live right now in the present and be positive and calm.
I enjoy the meditation class which grounds me in the present and I feel in a good place to travel to Bangkok for the operation and tests.
The Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital is one of the best in Asia and the treatment and care is truly outstanding. My surgeon Dr Chingyiam is one of life's great unsung heroes - modest, reassuring and totally professional.
My dear VSO friend Cora knew intuitively that something was not quite right with me and she accompanied me to the hospital in Yangon initially. Had she not have persuaded me to attend, then the story could have turned out very differently with serious consequences.
Yet again, something is happening to my understanding of how this world works in ways which are not based on science or logic but something more spiritual. I feel a deep sense of inner calm, peace and a desire to keep on living my life to the full.
