So after a couple of long flights (and calming Dan down over the excitement of flying in a 'double-decker' plane) we touched down in Bejing and we haven't wasted any time here.
We have spent most of our time as you would expect wading our way through hoards of Chinese tourists, many of whom found Dan (yet again) a tourist attraction himself. We have explored the backstreets of the old town, wandered the lakes, and of course had Peking duck in Peking! We have found the only way really to order food is to point and hand over pretty much what ever cash is taken from our hands....
Really wanting to blast the jet lag we headed yesterday for an incredible hike along the Great Wall. (Who would have thought you can drink 3 litres of water and not need a pee?!) Somehow we got ourselves onto a gorgeous section away from the crowds and set off through the mountains, Orangudan and Red Slug were very impressed at their first outing!
Today we hit Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City, which were both absolutely humoungous, and by 9am - teaming full of people! Tonight is our first of many night trains, we are off to a couple of quieter traditional Chinese towns....

Joseph Phippen Hello Uncle Dan and Rhian I have just been for a run with daddy and grandad cheddar. I have got my dinosaur train with me. Yesterday we went on the beach on our holiday. The seagull pinched my marmite sandwich. We later cricket and I kept getting grandad tractor out. We are having breakfast now. Love Joseph xx
