Today we met up with Aidan's aunt June who took us to see some glorious bits of West Vancouver. First up was Lighthouse Park where we listened out for various birds (we heard a woodpecker but it must have been hiding, but we did see a hummingbird) and wandered around a woodland trail. Then onto Cypress Provincial Park to go up the mountain to see what we could see.
We saw impressive vistas, a huge sky (HUGE... I've heard people talking about huge skies before but never really knew what it meant until I came here) and snow. Snow! Down in the city it was a glorious spring day but only 30 minutes drive away you could build a snowman. I guess that's what mountains do, really.
We also stopped for lunch at Horseshoe Bay which is a beautiful place. The clouds cleared from the North Shore mountains just in time for us to gaze at them while we ate .
Once we got back into downtown we wandered to Gastown to look at the steam clock. That didn't take too long ("Oh it's a steam-powered clock. K.") so after purchasing some reasonably-priced Vancouver Canucks merchandise (go Canucks go!) we headed back to the hotel. Once today's game finishes (1-0 to the Canucks so far) we'll find something for dinner.
