Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Happy birthday Oliver!! So sorry we can't be there! We hope school is especially fun for you today, and we know you will love your birthday dinner - with your selection of pork belly, and the look of mum's incredible cake - I think you'll have a marvellous time! We took our time packing this morning, and watched an episode of West Wing while we mentally went through our packing lists, until it was finally time to call a taxi. Chari came up to the station with us to see us off on the train, which proved to be uneventful. Of course when we alighted at the international airport (at Checkin desk A), we were as far away from our check-in desk as physically possible. By the time we checked in, had a spot of lunch, went through immigration, claimed our tax back, bought some water and walked to our boarding gate, we were sure we could've walked all the way to Blacktown. My memory cast back to our journey to South America - no business class for us this time, no Qantas lounges! Oh well, 'twas a lovely memory. Our flight to Singapore was uneventful - very nice service. We've never flown Singapore Airlines before, with all the trips we've done! We had a pre-dinner cocktail (Singapore Sling) and then a nice goulash for dinner. I watched the movie Brooklyn, which I'd been wanting to see, followed by the old MASH movie and then 3 episodes of Friends, which still made me laugh. When we arrived at Singapore, where it was very very warm, even for 9 o'clock at night, we only had a 90 minute wait for our next flight to Tokyo. This plane was older than the first one. The first one had phone connecting capability for charging, this one certainly didn't. It's entertainment system was not as comprehensive, nor did all facets of it work. Still, it was the middle of the night so it was a good opportunity to sleep after our little prawn wrap snack.
