It's 37 C here in Upington today and rising. Driving around in the aircon Discovery to keep cool earlier. The trailer top tent roasts in this weather, although the nights are cold thankfully.

Hi there !
You certainly are putting together a good travelogue - always makes for good reading. Cape Town is sitting at 32 degrees - but with a wonderfully cool sea breeze - so not a bad idea to make your way down south !!
Keep well. Heike

Sorry guys
Just spent 2 hours and equivalent of 20 pounds uploading a photo album for our Namibia trip only to find it loaded three versions and has now deleted them. New website format of interactive mapping etc is great for anyone on broadband but we aren't.
Will try again tomorrow before I chuck this screen through the internet cafe window!
Nice to be stressed again, reminds me of why I gave up work!

wasn't it shocking news at the Labour Paty Conference yesterday, I mean that announcement about a new airport development in Reading?
just remembered to log into your site after all this time. I was prompted by a wildlife documentary in Namibia last night. There was a baboon's arse in the picture. Shan't confirm which one of you it reminded me of

Hi Angela,
Been an avid reader of your website and must say what a fantastic time you must both be having. All good here, Im off to be an AC on 3rd on Monday. Lynn Morris had her baby a little girl - Catherine I think is her name. Also another lucky winner in our Reading office . Lin Iwaniak is officially the UK Women's Poker Champion - she won £10,400 plus a diamond bracelet worth £5K 2 weekends ago. She has been practicing her skills online for some time now! So I have made sure I have touched both Annette and Lin - to see if we can get some luck this way.
Take care of yourselves and keep the pictures and commentary coming.
Lots of Love
Karin

We assume by now that you are members of the South African version of The Caravan Club and, having fully paid up your subs, will be taking advantage of the substantial discounts you must receive off the £10 it cost to stay in the various national parks on your travels. The trip sounds amazing and the photos on the web site look stunning, all except the ones with you in of course Ralph. Do you bleach your legs every night? Didn?t realise you would be so out of touch with what is happening in the UK so we?ll do a regular update for you by e-mail of the progress of your favourite footie team. We won?t do it on the discussion board as we wouldn?t want to inflict it on what friends you do have at the moment. I must just say though that Man Utd are currently top of the league but just seven places behind them in eighth are a little team you might remember called Reading. Amazing how they?ve progressed since you stopped watching them. Anyway keep the photos and the ramblings coming; I like to think of it as Letter from South Africa with Ralph and Angela (with apologies to Alistair Cooke). Speak soon. Alan and Jane

Hi ! Great to read about your travels in the Kalahari. I am green with envy - at not being up there as well. I certainly love all the commentary - and stunning photos. Good idea to stick around the northern areas for the moment - as it is rather windy and chilly at the Cape at the moment.
Have fun - and thanks for the good read - and the laughs !
All the best
Heike

Greetings to our hundreds of avid readers and Phil.
It's official then, look at this website and you know someone who knows someone who won the UK lottery. Shame it wasn't us, we need to fill the Landrover again!
We've come out of the Kgalagadi Park back to Upington to repair the Landrover (rear door wouldn't open, then wouldn't shut due to dust and sand), get the aforementioned dust out of our bits and pieces (and I mean bits) and re-provision.
We are off to Namibia tomorrow, from Upington to the border at Ariamsvlei then Karasberg and on to Ai Ais a hot springs resort on the edge of the Fish River Canyon. Should spend around two weeks exploring the Canyon and surrounding area then back to Upington to go back to the Kgalagadi Park. We'll team up with Kevin the US amphibian researcher mentioned in a previous dispatch and do the 4 day 4x4 Nossob Eco Trail in the wilderness.
Then it's back to Namibia. If you wonder why we are going in and out of Namibia like this it's simple, our tourist visas expire next Tuesday.
Hope everyone is well and keep the comments coming.

Angela,
Am LOVING every bit of your postcards. They are fabulous and your husband's commentary is great - informative and also funny at the same time - I laugh out loud at some of the things he writes and then have to remember where I am!!
Snippet of news for you - do you remember Annette Rooke, our Receptionist? Three weeks ago she won £2.4 million (yes I did say £2.4 million) on the Lottery!!!! I won a tenner and thought that was good until I saw her - ha ha.
Take care and I look forward to the next instalment of your travels.
