Don't worry Ralph. If and when I come and meet you it will be in a Landrover Recovery Vehicle (LRV). Otherwise known as Landcruiser.

Many thanks Simon and Lyn and Ken & Nancy for being great hosts in Cape Town over the last two weeks, promise it is the last visit for a year or two!
Heike, sorry we ran out of time for a visit but there is always too much to do in the Cape and we had less than 2 weeks. (I can hear you breathing a sigh of relief!)
Car behaved itself for 1 hour on way to Upington then water started pouring out under the engine. Much to our relief it was not the cooling system, just excessive condensation on the aircon thanks to the humid weather.
Didn't know it was this until visiting Landrover Upington this morning after an 836km drive yesterday from the Cape (thanks again Maruis and Magda, excellent service as ever and free!)
Busy cleaning the car and trailer (removing the remains of 18 months worth of nibbles from under Angela's seat) ready for Lesley and Bill's arrival on Wednesday.
At the moment we have no room in the car for them thanks to our over enthusiastic wine buying in the Cape, so we'll have to drink a few bottles to make room.
Bill & Lesley are with us for 6 weeks and we'll be crossing South Africa to the Kwa Zulu coast via the Drakensberg, finishing in Kruger and Blyde River Canyon.
First stop, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park. Just hope we spot as much wildlife as we normally do...the pressure is on....

The noise in the Landrover turned out to be 2 broken engine mountings, the engine was scraping on the chassis as we turned corners.
The car is back with us now and we are nearly 300 pounds poorer!
Heading north tomorrow for a 900km trip back to Upington where we are looking forward to meeting Bill & Lesley, UK friends, who are daft enough to be joining us for a 6 week South African holiday.

Belated thanks to Dave, Gill & Rob, and Phil & Sue re the Christmas messages etc.
Pleased you can download the pictures Heike, if you need them in higher resolution let us know.
As for the Landrover, it is still not ready and they haven't found the worrying noise that we noticed in Simon'sTown driving uphill and cornering!
Keeping our fingers crossed..............

Hi All
Back in South Africa after fantastic time in Kalahari (flooded!) In the last week we've gone from rain, sand, dust, mud and heat to the relative cool of the Cape.
Will upload photos and blogs when we can.
